Worst NFL Record Preview & Prediction

Perhaps the worst odds sheet you could end up on in the NFL is having the best odds for the worst record. This means you’ve completed the entire season, practiced hard, and still were outplayed by every other team in the league. It’s an unfortunate futures bet for the teams expected to be the worst but a great opportunity for you. Mainly because you can use the previous seasons as a guide. Last season, the Jacksonville Jaguars finished with the worst record in the NFL. With a record of 1-15, the Jaguars closed their season but got something in return. With the worst record, comes the number one pick in the NFL Draft. With their pick, the Jaguars chose QB Trevor Lawerence. With this pick alone, the Jaguars moved down on the list as the team expected to have the worst record. We’re going to go over the top three teams expected to have the worst season before making our pick. Visit BetOnline to see the rest of the odds.

Third On The List, The New York Jets +700

The New York Jets make sense to be on this list especially considering the last five years. After a 10-6 record in 2015, the Jets have been on a steep decline. They finished 2-14 in the 2020 season, and are in one of the toughest divisions in the AFC. Being in the AFC East means you have to face the Buffalo Bills, the Miami Dolphins, and the New England Patriots twice. This doesn’t bode well for the Jets, essentially giving them six losses already. They’ll have a rookie quarterback as a starter this season too, adding more complications to the team.

Coming In At Runner-Up The Detroit Lions +300

The Detroit Lions come in as the third-highest team expected to have the worst season. Honestly, over the last five years, the Lions haven’t been good but not nearly as terrible as the 2020 Jaguars. They finished the 2020 season with a 5-11 record but made a playoff appearance in 2016. Sure, the team is going through a revamped season and the coaching needs to be ironed out. That still doesn’t mean they should be sitting so high on the list especially over the New York Jets who haven’t had a winning season since 2015.

Who’s Number 1? The Houston Texans +175

The Houston Texans odds are significantly higher than the Detroit Lions. This could be because of a couple of things. One, the situation surrounding Deshaun Watson, two, the new head coach, and three, the division. Much like the Jets, the Houston Texans are surrounded by teams better than them. Although they finished with a 4-12 record, slightly better than the Jaguars, Jacksonville is expected to have a better 2021 outing.

Our Pick? New York Jets +700

Per BetOnline, the Jets have the win totals odds at -110 for under six games. Although the Texans are the team most expected to have the worst season, they still have tons of talent. Their new head coach just needs to put the players in the best position to win games, something Bill O’Brien couldn’t do. The Jets are working with a new coach and a rookie quarterback, the payoff is much higher too.
