San Francisco 49ers vs. Los Angeles Chargers (Sunday)

It’s time for some Sunday Night Football and this time it’ll be between two California-based teams. The San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Chargers face off against each other in a game that’s sure to be entertaining. As always we want to get you the best picks so we’ll be covering what both of these teams bring to Sunday. The 49ers are coming off a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, but we saw a lot of promise from backup QB Trey Lance.

The Los Angeles Chargers come in as 5.5-point underdogs on Sunday per BetOnline. The Chargers already have a win under their belt from their first preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams. The question now is how their defense will do against Trey Lance and the Niner offense. Considering they’re a steep underdog, it seems the sportsbooks don’t believe the Chargers have a chance. Let’s go over the 49ers vs. Chargers Odds.

Trey Lance Could Have A Huge Game On Sunday

Perhaps the biggest story to watch on Sunday is how Trey Lance performs. Lance looked like a stud in their last preseason game, even with the game ending in a loss. Lance threw for 128 yards and a touchdown and had real control of the offense. This week we’ll get a more in-depth look at Lance when he plays the Chargers. We expect him to be on the field much longer Sunday and have a bigger impact.

The Niner defense is a very tough group, which is likely why they’re 5.5-point favorites per BetOnline. There is a chance Justin Herbert takes the field at quarterback for the Chargers but he wouldn’t be out there for long. More than likely, the Niners will have to deal with Chase Daniel, who had a pretty good outing last week.

The Defense Will Be Key For Los Angeles

On the opposite side of the ball, the Los Angeles Chargers will need to find a way to stop the Niner offense. This wasn’t much of a problem against the Rams last week but the Niners are a different group altogether. Pressure on QB Trey Lance will be key this week to the Chargers success, hopefully, some of their starters will be in to help. If not, the Chargers could find this game getting out of hand fast.

The offense of Los Angeles didn’t do great in their first preseason game which is likely why the 49ers vs. Chargers odds have them as heavy underdogs. Hopefully, for them, the offense is more dynamic this week. Larry Rountree III, the running back for the Chargers will likely be tasked with carrying the offense on Sunday.

Our 49ers Vs Chargers Predictions

We feel that the offense of the 49ers will prove to be too much for the Chargers to handle on Sunday. With Trey Lance controlling the offense and more starters getting playing time, it could prove to be a tough one for Los Angeles. The 49ers lost their first preseason game but should bounce back this week. The biggest question now is whether or not the 49ers can cover the spread. Nearly six points to cover is quite a bit for a team that’s not playing their starters for the entire game. However, the offense should be able to win this game by a touchdown, which is what they’ll need to cover the spread.
