Penguins and Red Wings are Neck-and-Neck 

The 2023 NHL season has only just begun, and for the first time this season, the Detroit Red Wings will take on the Pittsburgh Penguins. It’s hard to draw a line between these two. Both the Penguins and the Red Wings are 2-1-0 with a goal differential of +5. Detroit has 13 goals for and 8 goals against, while Pittsburgh has 11 goals for and 6 goals against. Both sides lost their season opener, but then won their next two, and are each looking to make it 3-straight. 

It will be a close contest, and with the margins as slim as they are between the Penguins and Red Wings it’s tough to predict a winner, so I’m going with the Over on 6.5 goals in this one. Detroit is averaging 4.3 goals and Pittsburgh is averaging 3.7 goals. If both teams reach their averages, they will hit the over on 6.5 goals. The Penguins and Red Wings each average 35.0 shots per game, giving both sides ample opportunities to score, and this one’s gonna be a barn burner.
