The Trojans Face The Spartans in Season Opener

The USC Trojans are the No. 6 team in the nation, and are heavily favored to beat the unranked San Jose State Spartans. A Spartans victory would be an unreal upset, one which would shock CFB and bring the Trojans promising season to a dramatic halt right out of the gate. But that won’t happen. USC is 97-24-8 in season openers, and are 5-0 all-time against San Jose State. Their last encounter was in 2021 and the Trojans beat the Spartans 30-7. 

I expect a similar result on Saturday, as the Trojans are a top-10 team and have the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, Caleb Williams, as their quarterback. Williams is a phenomenal player who will tear the Spartans apart both through the air and on the ground. This season is USC’s last in the PAC-12, and they’ll be looking to go out on top. The Trojans will begin that journey with a blowout win over the Spartans.
