This Lakers team is such a tough team to bet on. After a 37 point loss to the Nuggets in which Frank Vogel’s job was reportedly on life support the Lakers turn around and beat one of the league’s best teams in the Jazz. Then right when you think they have figured it out they come back and lay an egg at home against a Pacers team that had been 1-9 in their last ten. The Magic are pretty much in the same boat as this Pacers team. They have also lost nine of their last ten games.
Orlando opening up as 5.5 point home underdog is a bit suspect. I expected the Lakers to be favored by at least 7 or 8. But I cannot get a read on this Lakers team so I want to stay away from this line. Instead, I am going to be looking at this over-under. It is at 220 right now. I know these are two bad teams but they both suck on defense. The Lakers have dropped to 19th in defensive efficiency while the Magic are 24th. Expect these teams to put up some points and not play much defense. Especially when the Lakers are flying across the country to play this game. The Lakers are also 7th in points per game. While the Magic are towards the bottom of the league they did just put up 110 against a good Philadelphia team.
