Matchup: Iowa Hawkeyes vs. South Carolina Gamecocks

The women’s NCAA Championship game tips off this Sunday with a must-watch matchup between two 1-seeds, the Iowa Hawkeyes and the South Carolina Gamecocks. It’s the matchup everyone was hoping for, as the two best teams in the country prepare to go head-to-head in the March Madness final. South Carolina is a perfect 37-0, making the Gamecocks the favorites with a -6.0 spread. Behind the leadership of head coach Dawn Staley, South Carolina has been the team to beat in women’s college basketball, reaching the Final Four 4 times in the last 4 years, but the last time South Carolina lost it was against none other than the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Iowa took the Gamecocks down in last year’s Final Four, beating SC 77-73 behind an incredible 41-point performance from the AP Player of the Year, Caitlin Clark. Clark is a college basketball legend, posting the most points ever scored in a college basketball career (3,685 pts), and carrying the Hawkeyes to their second-straight championship game. Over the course of the tournament Clark is averaging 30.0 points, 9.4 assists, and 7.6 rebounds, but she now faces the best team in the country, the South Carolina Gamecocks, who are looking to cap off a perfect season.

Below you’ll find all of our picks for the Iowa vs. South Carolina game, including stats, scores, and advice. We’ll help you navigate the odds and provide helpful betting tips for Sunday’s Championship between Iowa and South Carolina.

Iowa vs. South Carolina Game Predictions

I can’t wait for this, as the Iowa Hawkeyes are clearly the only team in the country who have a chance against the South Carolina Gamecocks. At 37-0, South Carolina has run over every team that’s stood in their way. In the NCAA tournament, the Gamecocks are averaging 81.2 points for and 54.4 points against, for a +26.8 point differential, the best margin of victory by far. South Carolina’s 37-game win streak is tremendously impressive, but again, the last team to beat the Gamecocks were the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Iowa (+205) is the underdog against South Carolina (-250), but the Hawkeyes have done it before, and behind the savvy Caitlin Clark, the Hawkeyes will do it again. I’m taking Iowa to beat South Carolina for the schools first ever National Championship title. It’s going to be a hard fought, tightly contested, back-and-forth affair, but the Hawkeyes are playing well, and I’ve learned not to bet against Caitlin Clark. South Carolina’s defense will be tough to crack, but Iowa just put up 71 points against the UConn Huskies, who allowed just 56.8 points per game to their opponents. South Carolina is the No. 1 overall team for a reason, and I’m expecting the Gamecocks to lead for most of the Championship game, but Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes will come storming back to secure a much deserved National Championship title.

So here are my picks for Iowa vs. South Carolina in the National Championship:

  • Moneyline Pick: Iowa Hawkeyes (+205)

If you take Iowa’s Moneyline (+205): You bet $100 to win $205, for a total payout of $305, if Iowa wins straight up.

  • ATS Pick: Iowa Hawkeyes (+6.0)

If you take Iowa to Cover the +6.0 Spread (-110): You risk $110 to win $100, for a total payout of $210, if Iowa wins the game, or loses by less than 6 points.

  • O/U Pick: Under (159.5)

If you take the Under on 159.5 total points (-110): You risk $110 to win $100, for a total payout of $210, if Iowa and South Carolina combine for less than 160 points.
