Jon Gruden has been the coach for the Las Vegas Raiders for the last three years, and the team still hasn’t done any better than an 8-8 record. I guess that beats finishing below .500 win percentage in his first two years with the team. But if we’re really being honest, it hasn’t been good.

The Ravens are deep on the defensive side of the ball with a unit that ranked sixth in the league against the pass last season. Quarterback Derek Carr will eventually have to throw the ball to someone not named Darren Waller. Unless Henry Ruggs breaks out in 2021, it could be a rough year offensively.

Even with Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake running out of the offensive backfield, this is not a Ravens defense you want to fight in the trenches. Along with a stout passing defense, they also boasted the league’s sixth-ranked rushing defense.

They may not skip a beat offensively, either. That whole offense is primarily about putting the ball into Lamar Jackson’s hands and giving him a chance to make plays. They have others on the roster—some on the practice squad—clearly capable of stepping in and causing problems within a heavy run scheme like that one.

It could become an issue for the Raiders if they’ve failed plugging the crater-sized holes on their defensive front. If they can’t stop the run, it doesn’t matter what Carr and the offense does on Monday. It’ll be game over.

It’s important to note that Jacobs has been practicing, despite popping up on the injury report. However, the Raiders have officially ruled out offensive guard Richie Incognito.

A FEW ATS TRENDS TO CONSIDER RAIDERS ARE 1-4 LAST FIVE GAMES ON GRASS 1-4 LAST 5 AGAINST TEAMS IN THE AFC
