Ok, let’s get to our UNLV vs Fresno State Prediction.
The Fresno State Bulldogs have been one of the surprise teams of the early college football season as they have won and covered their first four games by a total of 55 points against the pointspread. The 4-0 start included an upset win at then-Number 13-ranked UCLA as a 11-point underdog and they also almost pulled off another road upset in Oregon back in Week 2 when they lost by 7 points as a 20-point dog. So, needless to say this is a team that is rolling right now and tonight they get to face a UNLV team that’s an absolute mess. The Rebels are 0-3, they’ve lost their last two games by a combined score of 85-10 and under second-year head coach Marcus Arroyo the team is 0-9 overall with the average losses to FBS teams coming by 24.5 points per game.
So, this may appear to be a spot where — no matter the pointspread — you lay the points with Fresno State, but with the line as high as 30 points, we simply aren’t going to do it, especially when you consider that Fresno State is in a classic letdown spot here on a short week after their stunning upset win over the Bruins, and the fact that the Bulldogs have only covered one of their last six home games against teams with a losing record. On top of all of that, starting QB Jake Haener went down with an injury in the win over UCLA and is unlikely to play tonight.
