Two 6-0 teams will each be looking to take a major step toward a Southeastern Conference East Division title in a game with College Football Playoff today.
With Alabama’s stunning loss to Texas A&M last week, Georgia is now the undisputed Number 1 team in the country and the numbers this team has put up in its first six games are absolutely staggering. The Bulldogs have outscored their opponents 239-33, as the defense is allowing just 5.5 points and 203 total yards per game, while giving up just three TDs all season. And even though they have been forced to use their back-up QB the last two weeks, the Bulldogs offense is averaging 39 points per game and they have put up these mind-boggling numbers while playing the most difficult schedule in the country.
As for Kentucky, the Wildcast have definitely been one of the most surprising teams of the young season, sprinting out to a 6-0 record for the first time since 1950, while knocking off the likes of LSU and Florida the last two weeks. For the season, the team has outscored opponents by a score of 31-17 and they have covered five of their six games.
Georgia has won the last 11 meetings between these two schools, outscoring the Wildcats 35-3 the past two games combined.
While we think Georgia will win this game easily, we’re not comfortable laying this many points since they are battling a few injuries and will be facing a scrappy Kentucky team that is 6-2 in its last 8 games when catching 14 or more points. Instead we’ll go to BetOnline and play Georgia’s team total to go over 33 points, and it doesn’t matter who is at QB.
Georgia has gone over its team total in all six games so far this season and the main reason behind that is because the defense is so stifling, it allows the offense to get more possessions than usual. This is, by far, the best offense Kentucky will have faced this season and the Dawgs have a huge edge along the offensive line. We also won’t be surprised to see the Georgia defense get into the act and score a defensive TD or two since Kentucky QB Will Levis won’t have a running game to lean on and when pressured this year he has made his share of mistakes, with six interceptions already this season.
