Who Needs to Step Up?

What just happened? Seriously. In game one of this series, the Avalanche jumped out to a 2-0 lead and it seemed like the game could get out of control, but the Lightning were able to handle it and take the game to overtime. In game two, there was no handling of any sort. The Aves scored a goal 2 minutes and 54 seconds into the match and never looked back. The Lightning and Vaselevsky looked slow as they were routed 7-0.

Valeri Nichushkin scored his seventh and eighth goals of the playoffs and continued to be the best player on the ice in these Finals. The Lightning haven’t been outplayed like this at all this postseason, but on the flip side, they haven’t played a team as good as the Avalanche in a while. This was the first time in three playoff appearances that the Lightning have lost two games in a row, and so naturally they have never lost three in a row.
