Game three was a massive game for the Lightning and went exactly as we told you it would. It was a defensive game in which only 5 goals were scored, and was the first game the Lightning won over the Rangers in this series. Not only in this series actually, but in the entire year. The Lightning hadn’t beaten the Rangers in the regular season either, so yesterday marked the first time they had all year.
The Rangers grabbed a 2-0 lead in Game 3 before the Lightning rallied to tie the score in the opening minutes of the third period, and Ondrej Palat scored the game-winner with 42 seconds left in regulation for a 3-2 victory. Losing a game with 42 seconds is heartbreaking, and the Lightning will hope to capitalize on that heartbreak the Rangers are experiencing in game 4. In order to win game 4 they will have to get the best of Igor Shesterkin who has been a wall in goal this series, averaging a .942 save percentage with 38 saves a game.
