Oilers Fall 0-1
It’s been awhile since the rivalry between the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames have had a clash big enough to add as a chapter of their history, but this series might be the one. But that all hangs on what type of Calgary Flame team shows up. Will we see the Flames who looked amazing in their first full season under Darryl Sutter? The Flames, who’s star trio of Lindholm, Tkachuk, and Gaudreau all scored over 40 goals on the season? The Flames who finished the regular season with a 50-21-11 record, to cap arguably their best season as a franchise? Or will we see the Calgary Flames team who nearly sputtered out in the first round against the Dallas Stars, barely eking out a win in the series in seven games after entering his huge favorites. Dallas’s goaltender Jake Oettinger was spectacular in the series, posting a .954 save percentage, but for a team that ranked 6th in goals scored per game, 2.14 goals per game in the first round is unacceptable. Now, with all that being said, I fully intend to see a Calgary Flames team that is upset by their poor performance and would like to remind us all how dominant they were in the season.
For our expert Calgary Flames versus Edmonton Oilers prediction, take the Flames.
