Chiefs vs. Ravens: Best Player Props
Lamar Jackson, Ravens QB; Prop Bet: O/U 29.5 passing attempts
Prediction: Under (-123)
Lamar Jackson is the engine of the Baltimore Ravens offense. He is the favorite to win MVP, and while Lamar is certainly a driving force behind Baltimore’s success, the Ravens will likely shy away from using his arm. During the regular season, Baltimore led the NFL with 156.5 rushing yards per game, and I expect them to lean on their running backs against the Chiefs. Kansas City has the 2nd-best defense in terms of yards allowed, keeping opponents in check because of their excellent secondary. However, the Chiefs have struggled against the run, allowing 129.0 rushing yards per game in the playoffs. The Ravens offense thrives on the ground, and we’ll see more carries than pass attempts from Baltimore on Sunday.
Justice Hill, Ravens RB; Prop Bet: O/U 33.5 rushing yards
Prediction: Over (-127)
Justice Hill has taken over as Baltimore’s lead running back. Against a stout Houston run defense, Hill recorded 66 yards on 13 carries. Hill splits time with fellow running backs Gus Edwards and Dalvin Cook, but in Baltimore’s last 3 games Hill averaged 38.0 yards on 7.1 yards per carry. The Chiefs defense has struggles against running backs, and Baltimore’s offense is the best rushing unit in the NFL. Justice will have plenty of opportunities to break away against KC’s generous run stoppers, as Baltimore will likely lean on their rushing attack to move the ball down field, with Hill leading the way.
Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs QB; Prop: O/U 241.5 passing yards
Prediction: Under (-111)
Patrick Mahomes is only 28-years old, yet the 7th-year quarterback has already found more success than most players do in their entire career. Mahomes is a 2x MVP, 2x Super Bowl MVP, 2x Super Bowl Winner, and is 13-3 in the playoffs. His resume speaks for itself, but in the AFC Championship on Sunday, Mahomes faces arguably the toughest test of his career. The Ravens defense is no joke, holding opponents to just 16.5 points, averaging 191.9 passing yards allowed, and led the NFL with 3.5 sacks per game. Mahomes is averaging 238.5 passing yards in the postseason, but he’ll be on the road against a defense that allowed a measly 213.0 total yards last week. Patrick Mahomes will be expected to carry the Chiefs offense, but Baltimore’s defense will overwhelm the reigning MVP.
