NFL & College Football Review, Week 17

All right Tommy Dee back here it is Friday, December 31. It is New Year’s Eve. And we’re back with another bet the edge podcast. It’s week 17. Scott, you’re on fire man, you basically nailed the mall, you just want to quickly go over that.

Well, we put out our best bet on the show, obviously and the line moved in our favor when we did the show was about two days before the game but I did call Arizona state plus the points the game actually ended at plus eight last night that line kept driving up. I just I was feeling better and better about it. You saw how it came down though. Got a little lucky. But at the end of the day, we got the job done and Dre and I both agreed on the Michigan State play got a little lucky on that one too with a pic with about 25 seconds left, they ran right down the field.

So worked out and my teaser, which was both place combined. And a seven point teaser worked out. But we did lose that one place. So we had a we had a real good show we had I personally had three out of four on the show and I’m excited. Kind of sad that 2021 is gone. Because I’ve been doing some phenomenal phenomenal winning this year between my free plays and my private service games all 2021 But you know what? We got a lot to talk about this two games tomorrow Nisa like the granddaddies of College of the college balls. We’re gonna start with the citrus ball. Five o’clock east in Ohio State right now is four point favorite I believe it did open up higher. It’s set at seven and a half. Total 64 It’s a big total. Trey What’s your take on this one?

Yeah, so I know that this Ohio State team is like the number one overall offense and all of in all of college football, but I’m gonna go ahead and I’m going to take Utah plus four and a half year plus the points I’m seeing that that Ohio State is missing there too. Or they’re missing Garrett Wilson and Chris are loving those guys combined for 135 yard catches 1900 You yards and 25 touchdowns. I think there’s Utah defense that stifled Oregon. I mean, Oregon got killed, but they be Oregon by 20 points and 31 points in the regular season matchup and in the Pac 12 Championship, the line has shot down and opened up higher than this. I just think that that the Utah defense is gonna play really good football. I think they can that excuse me, that Ohio State misses some of their key guys, and they’re just gonna they’re gonna struggle a bit on offense. And also keep in mind that you talk kill I know, you know, this isn’t how football works. But you talk killed Oregon twice, and Ohio State last Oregon. So I’m going to take Utah plus a point here.

Are you taking the points, it looks like the line is moving in that direction. Like I said, it did open up higher down the four, four and a half right now, Scott, what should take on the center of small Ohio State, Utah? Well, these are interesting betting angles that I always like to look at, here we go again, big 10 well known conference against the weaker conference, I feel in the Pac 12. But we got to take into consideration the way this Utah team has been playing the emotions behind this team. Obviously, we’re losing those two players, tragically, being you know, obviously passing away. Since then, they have won six straight games in a row, I believe they won seven out of the last eight, but six in a row pretty convincingly. Alright, let’s look at the other side. Now, Ohio State against a major rivalry, they got beat up against Michigan for the first time in a long time 42 to 27 loss. So that’s sitting on them. Now, there’s two ways to look at that. They got to get fired up from losing a game like that coming into a big game like this.

And come back big time. But here’s the key, the number if Ohio State was right, even with players out like Dre mentioned, I wouldn’t think they would be a six six and a half point favorite in a game like this. I think the emotions of this game and the way Utah’s playing, I think they’re going to cause a little mistake. For Ohio State I think the mistakes is going to be the difference maker in this game on a defense or offensive mistake. So I’m going to take the points are not really key about like the game about plus five or better. If you can find your slide I’m showing four and a half right now that all the major books I look at DraftKings.

FanDuel points, bet, win bet, you know better GM, all the big books out there. So I’m thinking, take that off. I think they’re going to stay in this game somehow, someway. They’re just playing on that emotional trip right now. And they can definitely play with the last thing in this game today. So I think a plus five and a half and jump on Utah plus five and a half guys.

Interesting. We both agree on the points here. What Utah the second game that we’re going to be covering here, which is probably the actual bowl game. I remember growing up all you heard was the rose ball from Pasadena, California. You got Old Miss Bella. All misses a small favorite one and a half. Total 55 We’ll go back to you, Scott, what’s your take on this one?

Well, great game the granddaddy of them all. When we were growing up they called the Rose Bowl and two good teams steady. Let’s Old Miss tended to this year. baler 11 into Baylor’s one seven. I think they both have won seven out of the last eight games they played in the regular season. Obviously, the line is tight.

This is a tough game, I’m going to be honest with you. Obviously, SCC conference against big 12. I’m gonna leap towards Baylor This is not a big play for me. But I just think based on what I’m seeing, and the matchup and the strength of scheduling, I just think Baylor is gonna find a way to pull a small number. I don’t call it a small up threat. But I would take Baylor in this game, plus the one and a half or plus two, I think this game will go to two. By game time. A lot of these games creep up, they’ll forget we’re doing these shows up totally a day earlier. So you have seen some line movements on all the games we’ve talked about, whether it’s good or bad working for us or against us. But I think in in this game guys, the granddaddy of all in Pasadena. I’m going to take Baylor in this game as a live dog plus two points.

All right, Dre. What’s your take on this one?

Yeah, so I’m also lean with Scout Scott they’re on on the bay there plus one and a half of my bigger plays actually going to be the under this bay. Their defense is just they’re stifling. All I believe the 14th ranked scoring defense 15th ranked rush Defense they’ve had more picks than they’ve had touchdown passes allowed and if you watch that big victory yeah big 12 championship game you saw them make a goal line stand against Oklahoma State to win that game that was an incredible game but I think this number is way too high for Baylor defense that is just playing incredible right now and I believe the Undertaker and for in their last four games, so I’m gonna take under 55 I believe believe it is and I also lean Baylor plus one and a half plus two. But we do eat the same thing for breakfast today because we’re bringing a lot the dogs are going to be barking so far. Let let’s see how that all works out here.

I mean this is this is a huge game between two of the AFC is you know marquee players I mean the bangles the Bengals are looking to clinch the division here.

Um, that AFC North is a slugfest right now everyone everyone saw the chance to win the division. Um but the mangoes are at home here I was looking at the full game spread I really I don’t know what to expect here. But I am going to take the bangles plus three you know me I love the first first half spreads going Bengals plus three in the first half they’ve let it the half and for their last six games the chiefs are known to close strong as you saw in that chargers game they’re not you know they don’t come out killing you usually unless you’re playing a bad team but against good teams they’re they’re known to close strong and bro you know girls just hot right now he do for 525 yards this a fourth most passing yards in a game ever. And over this I mentioned that the Bengals have led at the half and for their last six games over those last six games throughout the first half the Bengals have led their opponents 97 to 67 overall so I’m going to take the Bengals plus three in the first half All right, we got a first half prediction here Scott What’s your take on the Chiefs Bengals wow I love games like this guys come on. How could you not two studs. You got Patrick mahomes This guy is you know they call him the second coming of Tom Brady the baby goat against Joe Morrow out of nowhere steady is can be this guy just finds ways to keep ever free football basically and Move move move his team in the right direction. This game has a lot on the line. You got eight in a row for Kc coming into the game. Cincinnati look at a win that AFC South like Dre said there’s a big game I believe if they win this game. They do clinch the AFC South if I’m not mistaken. So you know they got a lot of them. They a lot on the line of want to win this one, especially at home. Look at the weapons in this game. I mean, we should call this the weapons bowl. That’s how many weapons you got.

Joe Mixon have an unbelievable season running back for Cincinnati, obviously, Jamal Chase, unbelievable wide receiver. You know you got Joker, like you said coming off a 525 yard passing game. Five points at all. Now we’ve looked to the other side. Patrick mahomes. What more can you say about this guy? And he’s got weapons with Kelsey and Tyreke Hill. I mean, this could be a great game, guys. Come on. You gotta you got to really enjoy a game like this. But when it comes down to it, I really think Cincinnati is going to come into this game. So right and fired up. I know Casey obviously wants to win it. But I think the defenses are going to be crucial in this game. I think both of these team bets is everyone’s talking about the offenses. Nobody’s really saying much about these defenses.

The Cincinnati defense is improving. If you look at the last few weeks, they’ve been playing extremely well. They cost the same with Kansas City. I think the big difference in this game is going to be turtled some key turn off, whether it’s a passive deception or a fumble that’s going to change this game around. And I’m believing it’s going to change in the favors Cincinnati. I’m taking the points. I buy it up for five and a half was six. The lines down to four and a half now, it was five yesterday, what you know and could change by tomorrow, obviously, but I would get plus six. I jump on Casey is an absolute whole dog. I love them. And I think they got a big shot this game.

All right, well, we got two different opinions here first half and the side. Another game that stands out has a lot of such possibilities here is this is a big game for us down here in Miami. Dolphins versus Tennessee. It’s another one o’clock game, Tennessee three and a half point favorite. Total 39 and a half Dre you seem to have a grip on the dolphins. What do you think?

I mean, the fact of the matter is you see the Jallianwala Jersey behind me here. I’m I’m an I mean, I may be biased but I’m taking dolphins plus three and a half here. The fact of the matter is that dolphins have won seven straight games guys. They’re just on fire tours playing well. They just manhandled the court. Coats excuse me, the saints on Monday Night Football on primetime. I mean, did you guys see that defense? They’re number one in the league in sacks now after, after what they did to pour em book, add that pick six. I mean, it was eight sacks.

I believe that game was absolutely just not fair. I’m also everyone’s talking about the defense’s in this games. You know, I just like to point out that the Titans offense is not good without their country. They’re just not good. They’re averaging 17 points a game over the last six. I mean, they’re just not a good offensive team when they don’t have a Derrick Henry. And the fins on the other hand over this win streak or average actually averaging almost 24 points a game. They’re playing really well. They’ve covered in six of those seven games. So I think the dolphins are fighting for their playoff lives here. The Titans are pretty much locked at the division unless they lose their last two and the coach win their last two. But um, I think the dolphins are gonna win this game. I think the dolphins are gonna make the playoffs. I think they’re gonna beat your patriots, Sky and week 18 To make the playoffs. I know that hurts. But I’m gonna go ahead and say, and I think Jalen waddle should get some consideration for rookie of the year. He’s about to break the receptions record, but no one’s talking about it. We’re gonna take the plus three and a half year and sprinkle the moneyline regular money line sticking with the whole home team favorite there. All right, Scott, what do you think dolphins Titans, interesting game both got a lot to play for. Let’s face it. Dolphins, like I said battling for their playoff lives to get in. They got two big games in a row with obviously this Titans game. And then getting through this one they got to play at home against the New England Patriots that are battling. So that’s going to be another big time game.

I got to be honest with you, though dry. If you look at this game, I mean, really look at it. From a standpoint of emotions. Yeah, the dolphins got a Christmas gift. We know that. But they didn’t play Ryan Tannehill. They didn’t have AJ Brown. They didn’t have the defense. You know? Yeah, the woman’s got a good defense. But Tennessee is a tough team man. They come from hit this head coach variable knows what he’s doing. And he’s going to bring this team in and they are looking to clinch that division. And this is a big game. I got to feel adult win streak stops today. I just feel the Tennessee is a bit better the two teams executing wise. I think for some reason, the twos got to get pressured all over the place. And I see him and I’ve seen store in the past. He makes mistakes on the pressure. And not Tannahill is the type of quarterback. I don’t know how he does it. He could look like the worst of the worst, for the longest time, even three quarters from show up. And all of a sudden he shows up out of nowhere, and turns it on and finds ways to get that team moving on the offense. I just think the dolphins would come in into a hornet’s nest in this game. I would keep that number under I would keep it around three less. I think Tennessee at home is going to get the job done. I just think of the stronger of the two teams and the better personnel of the two teams. So I’m looking at Tennessee at home for witness game by about seven to 14 points.

Sorry guy but I gotta respond here. I mean, I watched Ryan Tannehill for six years. Okay, he was he was nothing special. Number one. No, no, no, not. Number two I mentioned I’m going to talk about AJ Brown. At Iran is a beast is all you can say but the dolphins probably have the number one in terms of dual corner duel in the league was even Howard and Byron Jones was having an incredible season that not many people are talking about, but Byron Jones Xavi, our lockdown corners. And they also have Javan Holland. Who’s I think pff fifth highest highest rated rookie.

While was the third highest rated rookie, I think that the two corners can shut down AJ Brown and that’s that’s why I’m gonna take dolphins here because I don’t think Tahoe can play you know have a good game without AJ brown Well let’s look at let’s look at that thought the dolphins won seven in a row which is you know tremendous anyways no matter where you play, but how many of those seven teams were playoff teams that they beat in that seven game run?

Got a look at that it said the football this is when teams get up and leave office to do bass the NFL to play someone else.

It sounds like we could have had a Miami Tennessee show here fellas, you know, all right. Well listen, that’s why we have you know different opinions on this. It’s going to be a great game regardless. And I guess we’re gonna have to wait and see in the end who prevails. I want to get to our best bet. You know if you’re new to the show what we do at the end here, we put out a best bet. We put out a pol a for people who like to bet parlays and then we also throw out a prop bet and it could be any game on the board. It doesn’t have to be the games that we’ve covered on this show. Let’s start what you try your best bet for Saturday or Sunday.

Alright, so my best bet here is and it’d be an AFC North matchup with Chris talked about the AFC North how everyone’s super close. I’m gonna take the browns and the Steelers I’m gonna take the under 41 in that game. Both teams are in the bottom half the league in scoring on offense. The Steelers, the Steelers are on the last five games as soon as I’ve only managed to score over 20 points in one. And the browns on the other hand, have only done it in two of their last six games.

Both teams are off tough road losses. And also the Browns over the last six games are averaging 15 points a game. I mean, this is just this is going to be a slugfest as low as it always is with these two teams. Um I don’t think I don’t think baker or van are gonna move the ball that much against the other two. I mean, we’ve got the top two defensive player candidates in my opinion in this game, Myles Garrett and TJ watt. So I just think both quarterbacks are going to struggle and this under will stay under.

Could be big Ben’s last game as well. Yep. Interesting. Scott. Who’s your best bet?

Well, I don’t really have like a per se best bet. I haven’t. I have another teaser that I like that gave out a nice seven point teaser the other day on the show. And I like one today I actually like a seven point teaser with Baylor plus eight and a half and it could go to nine but at least eight now with the seven points added on. And I liked it with Cincinnati as a home dog plus 12 so I would play a seven point teaser. I know a lot of guys out there can do teasers obviously with all these you know all the legal sports books out there around the country nowadays. So I like a seven point teaser with Baylor plus eight and a half. And that’s obviously based on the current lines as we’re speaking to Cincinnati. Plus 12 points and opposed to single one play out is my best bet. I would probably use Cincinnati guys. But again, we tell you this all the time these are not games to go and bet the ranch on when I love your day to go out and rent the ranch on these games to have some fun with try to build up a little bankroll and you know, enjoy yourself obviously over the holiday weekend. But those are my two those are my two best advices for you. Cincinnati is your best bet I would get that line of plus five and a half buying it up by four point on that game and two teen teaser a seven point teaser with a Cincinnati plus 11 and a half for 12 to Baylor plus eight now all right a try you like Paul a somewhat if you had to put together to tema once again it could be any any two teams this weekend. What do you think?

Yeah, it would definitely be the Browns game. And then I’m sticking with my friends. How they want a little extra power. We’ll go fins money line to wow you’re all in on Miami man. It sounds alright, go fins. Scott, I know you’re not a big fan of Paul light. So we’re gonna count your teaser in that category. Yeah, as far as a prop you like you specialize in props. Dre it could be NBA it could be it could be NFL throw a prop out.

I’m going with the Russell Wilson over on his pass yards. This Sunday they’re playing the lions. I think this is a GET RIGHT game for for the Seahawks here and like I said previously in last week’s episode, I think Russell Wilson Stoney to prove to teams that you can still play this game of football. He’s just been struggling lately. And I think he’s gonna have a good game. I think he’s gonna throw for the over the lions. I mean, yeah, they’re they allowed you know, 12 points in the Cardinals and they almost beat the Falcons last week. The blind are still the lions.

They still gave up 38 points to the Broncos two weeks ago. So I’m going to take the Russell Wilson over and Pastor

this Russell Wilson’s been a mystery this year. It’s unbelievable. He’s like, he’s like, hear what he’s up to. Yeah, he’s there. He’s all over the place. I don’t know. I don’t know if the injuries really affected him. Boy’s mind is not there. But he he is definitely not the quarterback that he wants was this season, that’s for sure. He’s just been up and down.
