OK, let’s get to our Sugar Bowl betting tips.

This will be the nightcap of the New Year’s Day Bowl Games as Ole Miss takes on the Baylor Bears in a match-up of two teams that exceeded expectations this season and will both be excited to be playing in this national spotlight game.

The big news surrounding this game for Ole Miss football roster is the fact that QB Matt Corral is going to suit up and play tonight. Corral had a fantastic year and is likely a NFL first round draft pick and while many players in that situation have decided to opt out of playing in their team’s bowl game, the fact that Corral is going to play tells you that this is an important game for the Rebels.

But while their QB got most of the national hype this year, the Ole Miss running game was very effective, as they were the nation’s only offense with four rushers with at least 500 yards. But they’ll get a stiff test today against a Baylor defense that was 14th in the country in defending the run.

On the other side of the ball, the Ole Miss defense was very underrated in 2021, especially in the later stages of the season when they held four of their last six opponents to 19 points or less, which resulted in the team going under in seven straight games to end the season. Overall for the season, the Rebels went under in 9 of their 12 games and we see no reason to buck that trend since Baylor also ended the season with four straight unders and this total is still in the mid-50s.

So, let’s ride with the low-scoring trends for both of these teams and go under the total in the Sugar Bowl!
