Minnesota Vikings vs Green Bay Packers NFL Preview

One week after clinching another NFC Central title, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers (12-3) now have their sights set on the all-important No. 1 seed in the NFC, which comes with a coveted bye week. A win over struggling divisional rival Minnesota will go a long way in helping the Pack reach that goal.

Tonight’s Sunday Night Football Game from the frozen tundra at Lambeau Field (8:20 p.m. ET kickoff) has Green Bay listed as a 7-point favorite over the Vikings with a total of 46 points at Wager6.ag, where you can receive a 200% Cash Bonus.

For Minnesota, it’s desperation time. At 7-8 and coming off a crushing loss to the Rams last week, the Vikings are on the outside looking in right now when looking at the NFC Wildcard picture and a loss tonight will all but eliminate them from playoff contention and, quite possibly, end Mike Zimmer’s tenure as head coach for the Purple and Gold.

One thing that has been consistent for an incredibly inconsistent Minnesota team this season has been playing close games, no matter who the opponent is.

The Vikings have played 12 straight games where the final score was decided by eight points or less and overall this season they have had seven games decided by four points or less. One of those nail biters came on Nov. 21 when Minnesota outlasted Green Bay, 34-31, as a one-point home favorite.

Since that game, Green Bay has ripped off four straight victories and has emerged as one of the Super Bowl favorites. But the Vikes’ win over the Pack five weeks ago was no fluke as it marked their second-straight victory over Green Bay. In fact, over their last 25 regular season games, the Packers are 20-5 straight-up, with two of those five losses coming to Minnesota.

Despite winning four in a row and five of their last six, the Packers have concerns on the defensive side of the ball where they have allowed 28.8 points per game during that span. With a leaky defense and playing an opponent that’s had success against them in the recent past, Green Bay is a precarious pick when laying over a touchdown, so we’ll go ahead and take the points tonight with the Vikings.

Minnesota is 43-19 ATS the week after a straight-up loss, including a 20-6 ATS record under Zimmer when listed as the underdog in that situation, while the underdog has covered four in a row in this NFC divisional series.

Take the Vikings, plus the seven points at Lambeau Field tonight.
