NFL ODDS & PREVIEW – DALLAS COWBOYS AT SEATTLE SEAHAWKS 8/25

The Dallas Cowboys have played better in this pre-season that what they have been used to showing in recent years. Maybe part of it is the by-product of a rookie quarterback in whom they seem to have a great deal of confidence. He will be on display once again on Thursday night as the Cowboys pay a visit to the Pacific Northwest to play the Seattle Seahawks. Game time is scheduled for 10 PM ET at CenturyLink Field, and those customers who are signed up with BetAnySports know that they don’t have to stop the action when the opening whistle blows; indeed, they can keep placing wagers against the NFL odds in real time through the magic of Live Betting Ultra.

The Cowboys and Seahawks are both 1-1 in this pre-season; Dallas went before a huge crowd at the L.A. Coliseum for the Rams’ first home game and got off to a 24-7 lead, then let the newly-transplanted Los Angeles rally for three unanswered touchdowns in thee second half as they lost 28-24. Last week they had it all their own way against Miami at AT&T Stadium, scoring on their first touchdown drive behind Tony Romo (first action since being injured) and went on to win 41-14.

Seattle was behind 16-6 after three quarters against Kansas City, then put together a touchdown, field goal and two-point conversion to win 17-16, and then last week they lost 18-11 to Minnesota.

In the NFL odds that have been posted on this game by the people at BetAnySports, the Seahawks are the favorites at home:

Seattle Seahawks -6

Dallas Cowboys +6

Over 43.5 points -110

Under 43.5 points -110

What you have to start wondering at this point is whether Dak Prescott is getting over-hyped. The Cowboys’ rookie quarterback has played brilliantly in these first two games, completing 22 of 27 passes with four touchdowns, and he even added a 20-yard TD run last week in the 41-14 laugher against Miami. Of course, that is a surprise to no one who saw the mobility he showed when playing at Mississippi State. What he has done with his arm, however, has indeed been a revelation. It was obvious that some scouts didn’t feel it was strong enough, because he lasted until the fourth round of the draft, where the Cowboys made him their second selection in that round.

As BetAnySports patrons may have read, he is now being hailed as the heir apparent to Romo, and there are no worries among a lot of the Cowboy faithful as to what might happen if Romo gets injured again. Well, the Seattle defense, which allowed fewer points than anyone in the league last season, is the type of unit that could bring a young quarterback down to earth. And even a young running back, as Ezekiel Elliott, the first-round pick, makes his Dallas debut. The Seahawks have covered in Week 3 of the pre-season in seven of the last nine seasons.

One concern about Seattle QB Russell Wilson is that he attempted only eleven passes but sacked four times by the Minnesota Vikings, a team that has definitely risen to the occasion in the pre-season for Mike Zimmer. He also won’t have tight end Jimmy Graham, perhaps not for a while, and we will have to see whether running back Thomas Rawls, who has to take over for the retired Marshawn Lynch, is able to fully recover from the broken ankle that sidelined him in December for the rest of the season.
