GIANTS VS. DODGERS – 8/24/16 MLB PICK, ODDS, AND PREDICTION

If the San Francisco Giants are going to make a move toward winning the National League West, this three -game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers would be a great time to do it. Well, they have lost the first game and can even things up in the division only if they win the last two. So they will send Johnny Cueto to the mound on Wednesday night, with the action scheduled for 10:10 PM ET at Dodger Stadium.

And after the first pitch, BetAnySports customers can continue the action as they place wagers while the game is in progress through the magic of Live Betting Ultra.

This series began with the Giants a game down in the NL West race. And they thought they were in pretty good shape with lefty ace Madison Bumgarner on the mound, But that did not work very well, as Bumgarner went only five innings and gave up five runs. The 9-5 defeat put the Giants down two games in the race. They could obviously make the wild card game even if they lose the division, but that becomes much more of a crapshoot.

On Wednesday the Giants will go with Johnny Cueto on the mound. He’s got a 14-3 record and 2.90 ERA. Rich Hill makes his Los Angeles Dodgers debut tonight. He is 9-3 with a 2.25 ERA.

In the baseball betting odds posted by BetAnySports on this game, the Dodgers are favored with their new southpaw:

San Francisco Giants (Cueto – R) +120

Los Angeles Dodgers (Hill – L) -130

Over 7 Runs -120

Under 7 Runs +100

Cueto’s last two starts against the Dodgers have gone extremely well, as he has gone a total of 15-1/3 innings and surrendered only six hits. Those starts produced Game Scores of 73 and 76, while the first start he had against the boys in blue brought a score of just 39. He comes off a game against the Mets in which he yielded a single earned run in seven innings.

Rich Hill has been around for a while, having started with the Cubs in 2005. He spent 2010-2014 mostly in the bullpen, when he wasn’t in the minors or independent leagues. That’s right – as recently as last season, he was with Long Island of the independent Atlantic League.

BetAnySports patrons saw a bit of what was to come as he made four very strong starts for the Red Sox toward the end of last season, compiling a 1.55 ERA and 0.66 WHIP ratio. After signing as a free agent with Oakland, he quickly became the ace of the A’s staff, but at age 35, he was not going to be a part of their future, so he was dealt to a contender – in this case, the Dodgers, who need people to fill out spots in their rotation with the loss of Clayton Kershaw.

And by the way, Kershaw has thrown a bullpen this week and is said to be very encouraged with his progress; enough that no one is disqualifying the possibility that he could be back with the team sometime in September, which would of course be in time to make a difference as this race could really go down to the wire.
