NFL BETTING ODDS – WASHINGTON REDSKINS AT DALLAS COWBOYS

NFL Betting Odds – Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys (11/24)

By Charles Jay

There would seem to be little question that the Dallas Cowboys are providing one of the great stories in the National Football League this season. And it could have turned into an ugly story underneath, because when you have quarterback controversies in a high-profile situation like they have in Dallas, dissension is something that could follow. But Tony Romo made such a beautiful speech in support of teammate Dak Prescott that this almost has the look of a “team of destiny.” Indeed, the Cowboys have been the best team in the NFC, sporting a 9-1 record, and they are spotless against the football pointspread (9-0-1 ATS). On Thanksgiving day they will take on the Washington Redskins at 4:30 PM ET at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Fox Network will provide live television for the event, and BetAnySports patrons can watch it and make life wagers using the state-of-the-art software available through Live Betting Ultra.

The Cowboys have obviously benefited them the insertion of Prescott, the fourth-round draft pick out of Mississippi State, who has been almost a flawless field general. Prescott is third in the NFL in passer rating and has thrown only two interceptions in 316 attempts. So a lot of the NFL scouts who did not deem him worthy to play in the league, or considered him a “project,” are now scratching their heads in bewilderment. Prescott is, in fact, a pretty good candidate for Most Valuable Player, that is, unless he is upstaged by his rookie teammate, Ezekiel Elliott, who already has 1102 rushing yards, with the possibility of breaking the all-time record for a first-year man, currently held by Eric Dickerson.

But hey – the Redskins have been pretty hot as well. They lost their first two games, including one to these Cowboys, but have gone 6-1-1 straight-up since, accompanied by a 7-1 spread record. Kirk Cousins has thrown for 1095 yards over his last three games.

In the NFL betting odds posted on this game by the people at BetAnySports, the Cowboys are favored at home:

Dallas Cowboys -6.5 (-115)
Washington Redskins +6.5 (-105)

Over 51.5 points -110
Under 51.5 points -110

When you look at the statistics, it shows that Cole Beasley has been Prescott’s favorite target thus far, catching 53 passes and scoring five touchdowns. But any questions that there might not be chemistry between Prescott and Dez Bryant have been dispelled. Bryant is averaging 17 yards a catch and also has five scores. It is important to note that the Cowboys have at least two dangerous wide receivers, because while the Redskins put a world-class cornerback out there in Josh Norman, they are a little weak on the other side with Breshad Breeland, who has been burned repeatedly.

The Redskins have 27 sacks on the season, and we imagine they will come very hard at right tackle Doug Free, who might be the weak link in what is otherwise a premier NFL offensive line. These guys have allowed only 14 sacks of Prescott, and obviously, BetAnySports customers know that the rookie can do a lot with his legs as well.

One of the strong suits of the Washington offense is the fact that Cousins can distribute the ball in a lot of different directions. In fact, his top three receivers have 49, 48 and 47 receptions, respectively. That is the definition of BALANCE. And the Redskins, who got tired of a consistent efforts on the part of Matt Jones, have turned to a rookie, Rob Kelley, who has averaged over 100 yards per game on the ground. As a team, they are logging it for 4.6 yards per carry, while Cousins is completing 67% of his passes. Tight end Jordan Reed might be the primary target, considering that he was on the other end of 70 yards in receptions during the first meeting. That game, the second of the season, saw Dallas defeat the Redskins at FedEx Field 27-23, despite a yardage advantage in favor of Washington.

In this one, there would appear to be a scheduling edge for the Cowboys, as the Redskins played a Sunday night game against Green Bay and have to travel.
