Matchup: Detroit Lions vs. San Francisco 49ers

The Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers will duke it out this Sunday for a chance to reach Super Bowl LVIII. Detroit is the underdog, but these scrappy Lions have clawed their way into their first NFC Championship appearance in 32 years. The Lions are hopeful, but the 49ers are here to dash any dreams Detroit has of seeing a Super Bowl. San Francisco is heavily favored, being given a 74% chance to win by ESPN Analytics, but the Niners have lost 2-straight NFC Championships, and could crumble under the pressure once again. The Lions are looking to make history with their first ever Super Bowl appearance, while the 49ers are hoping not to squander another opportunity at the big dance.

Lions vs. 49ers: Same Game Parlays

SGP Players to Score a Touchdown: Christian McCaffrey & David Montgomery (+222)

The easy part of this bet is the likelihood of Christian McCaffrey scoring a touchdown is almost guaranteed. On his own, CMC is at -600 to score at some point against the Lions, and for a detailed outlook on McCaffrey, see our player prop analysis. The risky part is David Montgomery’s chances to score, but I’m willing to bet on Detroit’s big bruiser. When the Lions get near the goal line, Montgomery is going to be their first, second, and third option. The 224 lb running back is going to run it down San Francisco’s throat, which is why I’ve paired Montgomery and CMC together to each record a score.

SGP Player Total Receptions: Jahmyr Gibbs: Over 3.5 & Sam LaPorta: Over 5.5 (+370)

The Lions are going to throw the ball A LOT in this game, because 1) the 49ers have a great run defense and 2) Detroit is more than likely going to be playing from behind. When a team is losing, there’s no better way to move the ball quickly than through the air. Amon-Ra St. Brown is Detroit’s No. 1 target, but the Niners are going to blanket him all game, leaving room for Jahmyr Gibbs and Sam LaPorta to shine. QB Jared Goff will need to get the ball out quickly against the 49ers pass-rush, which will result in a lot of RB check downs and TE drag routes. Gibbs is Detroit’s best receiver out of the backfield, while LaPorta has solidified himself as a reliable pass catcher, and Goff will be looking in their direction all game.
