OK, let’s get to our analysis of the Cleveland St vs Wright State game.
Cleveland State takes its four-game winning streak on the road tonight and will try to remain in first place of the Horizon League standing when it takes on Wright State.
The Vikings come into tonight’s game with a 13-4 overall record and one of those wins came at home on December 4th against this same Wright State team by the score of 85-75 in a game they were listed as a 2.5-point favorite.
Since that game, Cleveland State has won seven of nine games, with one of those losses coming by just five points to Oklahoma State.
As for Wright State, the team ripped off a seven-game winning streak from mid-December into the New Year but has since lost two of their last four games to drop to 11-9 overall but the team is 8-3 in league play and a win tonight would put them in position to contend for a league title.
The total in the first meeting was 143 and the teams combined for 160 points and we think the oddsmaker has overreacted to that score and they have bumped tonight’s total up too high.
Yes, the last game went flying over, but there were some extenuating circumstances that led to the high score. First off, Cleveland St shot a blistering 50% from 3-point land on their home court in the game which is well above their season average of 31.6% so we don’t expect to see anything close to them hitting half of their long range shots tonight. Secondly, the two teams combined for 36 fouls, which led to 40 free throw attempts, which is always a friend to the under, so we’ll expect that stat to regress as well tonight.
Wright State and Cleveland State rank 114th and 125th respectively in possession per game, so with all of that said, this total is simply too high at 151 so we are going to bet under the total tonight as our Best Bet.
