Matchup: Philadelphia 76ers vs. Phoenix Suns

The NBA season is winding down but the postseason pressure is building. This Wednesday we have an excellent cross-conference matchup between two teams fighting for an automatic playoff berth in their respective conferences, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Phoenix Suns. The Sixers are 6th in the East, but just a single loss could bump them down into the play-in tournament. The Suns are tied for the 7th in the West and desperately need a win in order to break into the top-6. It’s a huge game for both teams, as the pressure of the looming postseason adds an extra layer of drama to this must-watch matchup.

Neither team can afford a loss, but only one can win. Below you’ll find all of our picks for the 76ers vs. Suns, including stats, scores, and betting advice. We’ll help you navigate the odds and provide helpful betting tips for Wednesday’s matchup between the 76ers and Suns.

76ers vs. Suns History

This Wednesday will be the 135th all-time matchup between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Phoenix Suns. Phoenix leads the 56-year old series with a 74-60 record over Philadelphia. Wednesday is the 2nd matchup of the season between the Sixers and Suns. Philadelphia won the first game 112-100 at home, but now Phoenix gets to play host, where they went 7-3 in their last 10. On the road in Phoenix, the Sixers are 21-46 (31.3%) all-time and 3-7 (30%) in their last 10. Philly is on a 4-game losing streak against the Suns on the road, losing 3 of their last 4 away games overall.

76ers vs. Suns Game Predictions

Take the Suns to win and cover against the Sixers on Wednesday. Phoenix is coming off a 4-game road trip where they went 2-2, and will be happy to be back home. The Suns win 60% of their home games (21-14) and have no key injuries currently listed on their report. The Sixers on the other hand are still without reigning MVP Joel Embiid, who’s status remains a mystery. Embiid cooked the Suns with a 26 point 11 rebound double-double in their first meeting, but without the big man on the floor the Sixers aren’t much of a threat, posting a 12-22 (35.3%) record after Embiid went down.

The Suns Big-3 of Kevin Durant (27.8 PPG), Devin Booker (27.2 PPG), and Bradley Beal (18.8 PPG) is tough to stop, as most teams can’t possibly keep all three in check. Moreover, the last time the Suns faced the Sixers they were without Booker and Beal, which won’t be the case on Wednesday. All 3 players are now active, and combined for 62 points in Phoenix’s last game. The Suns biggest weakness has been inconsistency on defense, but against a Sixers side that averaged just 102.2 points per game over their last 10 matchups, Phoenix won’t have a problem outscoring Philadelphia.

In summary, here are my picks for the 76ers vs. Suns Wednesday night matchup:

  • Moneyline Pick: Phoenix Suns (-355)

If you take the Suns Moneyline (-355): You risk $355 to win $100, for a total payout of $455, if the Suns win straight up.

  • ATS Pick: Phoenix Suns (-8.5)

If you take the Suns to Cover the -8.5 Spread (-110): You risk $110 to win $100, for a total payout of $210, if the Suns win the game by at least 9 points.

  • O/U Pick: Over (221)

If you take the Over on 221 total points (-110): You risk $110 to win $100, for a total payout of $210, if the Sixers and Suns combine for more than 221 points.
