Matchup: New York Knicks vs. Denver Nuggets
The New York Knicks will take on the defending champs this Thursday as they cap off a 4-game road trip against the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets are in the running for the Western Conference title and will comfortably make the playoffs, while the Knicks are 4th in the East after winning 4-straight. Denver went 8-2 over their last 10, and they’re coming off a huge road win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Knicks are 3-0 on their road trip and will look to make 5-straight on Thursday, but as always Denver is the favorite at home. The Nuggets have won 3-straight at home, posting an 81.8% win-rate in Ball Arena, presenting the Knicks a steep hill to climb in this must-watch cross conference matchup.

Knicks vs. Nuggets History
This Thursday marks the 99th regular season meeting between the New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets. The series began 48 years ago in 1976, and over the course of history it’s always been a relatively even matchup. Denver holds a slight lead over the Knicks, posting a 51-47 record. New York and Denver have never met in the playoffs, and while the Nuggets have been the better team in recent years, the Knicks currently have a 3-game win streak over the reigning champions. However, New York is 16-32 (33.3%) on the road against the Nuggets, winning just one time in their last 15 visits to Denver.
Knicks vs. Nuggets Game Predictions
I’m going with the Denver Nuggets over the New York Knicks. Denver is one of the best home teams in the NBA, and with the Western Conference title on the line, the Nuggets will be looking to keep their streak alive. New York’s biggest strength is their defense, allowing the 2nd-fewest opponent points per game (107.9), but Denver can run with any team in the NBA. Case in point, Denver is 2-0 against the No. 1 rated Boston Celtics. If the Knicks were at full strength they would have a better chance to beat Denver, but with Julius Randle and OG Anuoby still on the bench, the Nuggets will take this one.
In their first matchup, the Knicks roasted the Nuggets 122-84, but it was a fluke. The Nuggets shot a season-low 19.2% from the Three-point line, while the Knicks shot 52.9% from the Field. New York normally shots 46.1%, while the Nuggets have a top-5 field goal percentage at 49.6%. Led by this season’s likely MVP Nikola Jokic, who scored 31 points against the Knicks in their first meeting, Denver will snap New York’s streak.
In summary, here are my picks for the Knicks vs. Nuggets Thursday night matchup:
- Moneyline Pick: Denver Nuggets (-380)
If you take the Nuggets Moneyline (-380): You risk $380 to win $100, for a total payout of $480, if the Nuggets win straight up.
- ATS Pick: New York Knicks (+8.5)
If you take the Knicks to Cover the +8.5 Spread (-110): You risk $110 to win $100, for a total payout of $210, if the Knicks win the game, or lose by less than 9 points.
- O/U Pick: Over (210)
If you take the Under on 210 total points (-110): You risk $110 to win $100, for a total payout of $210, if the Knicks and Nuggets combine for less than 210 points.
