Tonight’s game pits a pair of Eastern Conference teams against each other that are both playing very well right now. Both the Nets and Celtics come into tonight’s game at the TD Bank North Garden riding three-game winning streaks. In fact, the Nets are 8-2 in their last 10 games and sit atop the Eastern Conference standings with a 13-5 record, while the Green Team has won seven of its last 10 and have risen to the Number 6 slot in the standings.
What has been most impressive to me during this recent stretch of games for these two teams has been the defense. After a slow start to the season on the defensive end of the floor, the C’s are starting to gel and play great team defense, holding opponents to 96.4 points per game in their last 11 games, and as a result the under has cashed in 8 of those games. With Jaylen Brown returning to the lineup, they’re even more fierce on defense.
As for the Nets, they rank 10th in the league in total defense. So, we have two teams without a ton of scoring depth — but with great defensive mindsets — going head to head. Both teams had the last night off, so the legs will be fresh and that’s always a plus on the defensive end. With all of that said, we think this will be a low scoring game tonight.
