Matchup: Indiana Pacers vs. Milwaukee Bucks

The Indiana Pacers will look to even the score against the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday after losing 94-109 in Game 1 of this first round series. The Bucks struggled against the Pacers during the regular season, posting a 1-4 record versus Indiana, but in Game 1 Milwaukee rallied and held the highest scoring team in the NBA to just 94 points. It was Indiana’s lowest scoring game of the season, and just the second game in which they were held under 100 points. What’s more, the Bucks did it without their best player and leading scorer, Giannis Antetokounmpo. Milwaukee will look to take a 2-0 lead over the Pacers on Tuesday, but with Giannis still out, can the Bucks stifle the Pacers top-rated offense once again?

Pacers vs. Bucks Head-to-Head History

  • Regular & Postseason Games: 220 (1976-2024)
  • All-time Series: Pacers: 102 wins; Bucks: 118 wins
  • Season Series: Pacers 4-1
  • Playoffs Series: Bucks 1-0

Tuesday’s Game 2 will mark the 221st all-time meeting between the Pacers and Bucks, and will be just the 10th postseason matchup over their 48 year history. The Pacers and Bucks haven’t met in the playoffs in 24 years, back when the first round was still a best-of-5 series. During the regular season the Pacers trounced the Bucks, winning 4 of their 5 matchups, averaging 128.8 points per game. The Bucks averaged 125.2 points per game, a noble attempt to keep pace with the highest scoring team in the NBA, but Milwaukee ultimately fell short. But in Game 1 the Bucks somehow managed to keep Indiana well-below their season average, a feat they would very much like to repeat.

Pacers vs. Bucks Best Player Prop

Patrick Beverley; Over 0.5 Threes (-199)

Patrick Beverley had 3 points in Game 1, but he was on the court for 37 minutes. That much playing time should lead to several 3-point attempts, and while Pat Bev is not known for his 3-point shooting (36.1%), I’m willing to bet on at least one 3PM from the 35-year old veteran point guard. Damian Lillard is the long-range threat, and after rattling home 6 in Game 1, I’m sure he’s grabbed the Pacers attention. Dame will be doubled, leaving Beverley open, and all he has to do is make one. Take the over on Patrick Beverley’s 0.5 threes player prop.

Pacers vs. Bucks Prediction

The Pacers had their worst offensive performance of the season in Game 1, scoring a season low 94 points, which led to their 10th straight-postseason loss. That’s right, Indiana has gone 0-10 in the playoffs from 2018-2024, a demoralizing record that keeps getting worse. I do expect the Pacers to bounce back with a better shooting performance in Game 2, but that doesn’t mean they’ll win the game. I’m taking the Milwaukee Bucks to take a 2-0 series lead over the Indiana Pacers. Milwaukee is a tried and true home team, winning 73.8% of their game in Fiserv Forum, while the Pacers are a coin flip on the road, posting a 51.2% win-rate as visitors.

Giannis is doubtful to play on Tuesday, but if Game 1 proved anything it’s that Milwaukee is a resilient bunch. Dame Lillard led the way with 35-points on 6/11 from 3-point range, while Khris Middleton (23 pts, 10 reb) and Bobby Portis (15 pts, 11 reb) came in clutch, each recording a double-double. Indiana’s Pascal Siakam (36 pts, 13 reb) was the only Pacers with 20+ points, and while Indiana won the rebound battle, securing 14 offensive rebounds, they shot just 20.5% (8/39) from Three. The pressure of the playoffs might be too much for the Pacers, who haven’t seen the postseason since 2020, while the 3-seed Bucks are right at home in their 8th consecutive playoff appearance.
