Matchup: Milwaukee Bucks vs. Minnesota Timberwolves

The NBA season continues this Friday with a heavy-weight cross conference showdown between the Milwaukee Bucks and Minnesota Timberwolves. The Bucks are 3rd in the East and 7th in the NBA, while the Timberwolves are the best in the West and 2nd in the entire league. Milwaukee is looking to snap a 2-game losing streak, but they’ll be well rested coming off All-Star weekend. Minnesota on the other hand won 4-straight heading into the All-Star break, and are hoping the long hiatus didn’t kill their momentum. Regardless, the Timberwolves are favored according to the odds, with sportsbooks giving them a 4 and half point advantage over the Bucks.

Below you’ll find our Bucks vs. Timberwolves predictions, including: stats, scores, and betting advice. We’ll help you navigate the odds and provide helpful betting tips that ensure a great payout for this Bucks vs. Timberwolves matchup.

Bucks vs. Timberwolves History

With just 67 regular season meetings over the last 35 years, the Bucks versus Timberwolves matchup is a rare occurrence. The all-time series is nearly tied, but Minnesota holds a one game lead over Milwaukee with a 34-33 record. The Timberwolves beat the Bucks 129-105 earlier this season, but Milwaukee was without Damian Lillard & Khris Middleton, their 2nd and 3rd highest scorers respectively. Regardless, historically both franchises have struggled in the past, but this year they are changing the narrative and find themselves in the NBA’s upper echelon as true title contenders.

Bucks vs. Timberwolves Game Predictions

The Bucks and Timberwolves matchup well, but I like the Timberwolves here. Minnesota dominated Milwaukee in this season’s first matchup, winning by 24-points and holding Giannis Antetokounmpo to just 17 points and 3 rebounds. Giannis averages 30.8 points per game, but Minnesota’s defense is that good, limiting opponents to just 106.7 points on average, the best in the NBA, that they held 2x MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo under 20 points. Moreover, the Timberwolves are tough to beat at home, winning nearly 80% of their games in Minnesota, while the Bucks don’t travel well, winning just 46% of their games on the road.

Take Minnesota to cover the spread, as well as the T-Wolves moneyline. The Bucks are winless as underdogs this year, posting an 0-6 record when given the plus moneyline, while Minnesota is 33-10 as favorites. Milwaukee doesn’t defend the paint well, giving up over 50 points per game from inside the key. Minnesota has two big men, Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns, that live in the paint, and will cause a lot of issues for the Bucks. Not to mention Anthony Edwards, who leads the Timberwolves with 26.3 points per game and has been compared to a young Michael Jordan, and the Bucks have a real problem on their hands.

Here are my picks for the Bucks vs. Timberwolves Thursday night matchup:

  • Moneyline Pick: Minnesota Timberwolves (-192)

If you take the Timberwolves Moneyline (-192): You risk $192 to win $100, for a total payout of $292, if the Timberwolves win straight up.

  • ATS Pick: Minnesota Timberwolves (-4.5)

If you take the Timberwolves to Cover the -4.5 Spread (-110): You risk $110 to win $100, for a total payout of $210, if the Timberwolves win the game by at least 5 points.

  • O/U Pick: Over

If you take the Over on 224.5 total points (-110): You risk $110 to win $100, for a total payout of $210, if the Bucks and Timberwolves combine for more than 224 points.
