Matchup: Denver Nuggets vs. Miami Heat

The NBA season continues this Wednesday with a rematch of the 2023 Finals, as the Denver Nuggets prepare to face the Miami Heat. The Heat will host, and as hosts they are 17-14 (win-rate: 54.8%) on the season. As guests, the Nuggets are 18-14 (win-rate: 56.3%), which has created a tantalizing environment for this highly anticipated rematch. Of course, the Nuggets won the Finals, beating Miami 4-1 and keeping the Heat from their 4th championship title. Denver is on track to make a run at a second consecutive title, as they are just half a game back from leading the West, while the Heat, who reached the Finals as an 8 seed, will once face unlikely odds, both in the postseason and against Denver on Wednesday.

Below you’ll find all of our picks for the Nuggets vs. Heat, including stats, scores, and betting advice. We’ll help you navigate the odds and provide helpful betting tips for Wednesday’s matchup between the Nuggets and Heat.

Nuggets vs. Heat History

Wednesday night in the NBA will mark the 74th all-time meeting between the Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat. Being in opposing conferences means they don’t see each other often, but since 1989 the Nuggets and Heat have played each other at least once a year. Denver leads the series with a 39-34 record over Miami, but if we include last year’s Finals, which was the first and only postseason series between the two, the Nuggets have won 10 consecutive games versus the Heat. August, 2020 was the last time Miami beat Denver in the regular season.

Nuggets vs. Heat Game Predictions

In the Finals rematch, I’m going with the reigning champion Denver Nuggets. 1) the Nuggets are the better team with the better record and point differential, and 2) Denver doesn’t have any key injuries. Miami’s Tyler Herro remains sidelined with a foot injury, and now Jimmy Butler is questionable with an illness. Herro and Butler are Miami’s top-two scorers, averaging a combined 42.5 points per game (nearly 40% of the Heat’s offensive output), and their collective absence would be devastating. Butler has a chance to play, but may not be 100% for this crucial rematch.

Denver remains a top-tier team because of their talisman, Nikola Jokic. The 2x MVP is carrying the Nuggets right now, averaging 30.6 points, 12.2 rebounds, and 8.2 assists in his last 5 games, and recorded a triple-double in 2 of his last 3. Miami held Jokic in check, limiting the big-man to just 18 points in their first meeting, yet the Heat still lost. That’s what makes Denver so scary; Jokic draws all the attention forcing coaches to gameplan around him, forgetting that Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr., and Aaron Gordon can beat them just as easily. The Nuggets are 9-1 in their last 10 games; with Denver this hot there are only a few teams that can stop them, and the Miami Heat aren’t one.

In summary, here are my picks for the Nuggets vs. Heat Wednesday night matchup:

  • Moneyline Pick: Denver Nuggets (-150)

If you take the Nuggets Moneyline (-150): You risk $150 to win $100, for a total payout of $250, if the Nuggets win straight up.

  • ATS Pick: Denver Nuggets (-3.5)

If you take the Nuggets to Cover the -3.5 Spread (-105): You risk $105 to win $100, for a total payout of $205, if the Nuggets win the game by 4 points or more.

  • O/U Pick: Under (213.5)

If you take the Under on 213.5 total points (-110): You risk $110 to win $100, for a total payout of $210, if the Nuggets and Heat combine for less than 214 points.
