Being a six point favorite as a team who is coming off 2 losses and has little to no momentum truly is a surprise. Except for the fact that we’re talking about the Phoenix Suns. The Suns started off this series taking a 2-0 lead convincingly, and making it seem as though the Mavericks were going to be swept. Since then, the Mavs have won games 3 and 4, and have done so almost as dominantly as the Suns won the first two games. Luka has continued his amazing play, and in each game has been virtually unstoppable in the paint, simply toying with Suns defenders. But there are two reasons why the Suns will bounce back in Game 5.
The first reason has to do with Luka, and the second reason has to do with Chris Paul. The first is that Luka Doncic simply has to realize when he should stop shooting fadeaway threes. In this series, Luka is shooting the three ball at a horrible 31% and yet he’s still averaging 9.5 3pt attempts per game. The perfect example is just the last game where he went a horrible 1-10 from 3 point land. At what point do you stop shooting the ball? Especially when you are dominating the paint. He can and will keep putting up monster point numbers, but could help his team even more if he played a more efficient game.
The final reason is because Chris Paul, in Game 3, for the first time in his career, had four fouls in the first half, and fouled out in three quarters. This won’t happen again and he will want revenge in front of his home crowd.
