Ok, let’s get to our Celtics vs Lakers picks.
Despite a loss to the crosstown rival Clippers on Friday night, the Lakers have been rounding themselves back into shape after a sluggish start to the season. Before that loss on Friday, the Lakers had won two in a row and four of their last six and enter tonight’s game with a 12-12 record.
As for the Celtics, despite some injuries, the team has won three of their last four games, including a 145-117 blowout at Portland on Saturday, and enters tonight’s game at 13-11.
Even if star Jaylen Brown does not play tonight, we think the Celtics at plus three points has some great value. The Green Team is playing some of its best basketball of the season and Jayson Tatum has been on fire, making up for the loss of Brown. The offense has been clicking on all cylinders, averaging 118 points per game the last four times they have taken the court, and as good as the offense has been, the Celtics defense has been outstanding all season, and is ranked 4th best in the NBA in defending the paint, which will bother the Lakers, who at times this season have leaned on their inside game for points.
Lakers head coach Frank Vogel is still tinkering with his lineup and rotation and even though the team is playing much better in recent days, we still don’t think they should be laying points to this surging Celtics team.
The Celtics have covered 10 of their 14 road games this season and have gone 6-2 ATS vs the Western Division, while the Lakers are a dismal 3-10 against the spread as a home chalk this season.
