This is a battle of two Eastern Conference rivals that have a long history. The Celtics come into this game winners of six of their last 10 games to finally get above the .500 mark with an 11-10 record while the Sixers have been struggling, despite Monday night’s win over the Magic, and have won just 3 of their last 10 games.
This is a tricky scheduling spot for Philly. The team completed a 13-day, six-game West Coast trip on Saturday and then played two straight games at home. Now, they are heading back out on the road for a stretch of four games in a row away from home, so overall tonight’s game will be their third game in five nights and their seventh road game in their last nine.
That kind of back-and-forth travel can really take a toll on a team, especially the 76ers who are just 6-13 against the spread dating back to the start of last season when listed as a road underdog.
The Celtics, meanwhile, have had two full days off and are 10-6 against the spread this season when they have the benefit of two or more days of rest and that’s because it allows their legs on the defensive end to be fresh, and it is the team defense that Boston has been playing that has been their strength. The C’s have held four of their last five opponents to 96 points or less and now rank in the Top 10 of the league in points allowed and scoring margin.
