SAN ANTONIO SPURS VS. MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES GAME 6 – 4/27/17 FREE NBA PLAYOFF PICK

Can the San Antonio Spurs get the job done and close out this series against the Memphis Grizzlies, even though they have taken four trips to the FedEx Forum this season and come away winless? That is what supplies the intrigue as we move into Game 6 of this best-of-seven, which is scheduled to get underway at 9:35 PM ET. Remember that BetAnySports customers will have the opportunity to place wagers even after the game tips off, as they access the state-of-the-art software available through Live Betting Ultra.

For the Spurs, the big star has obviously been Kawhi Leonard, who has some impressive hardware, as he is a former NBA Finals MVP and Defensive Player of the Year, and should be a leading contender for the MVP award, if not for the fact that James Harden and Russell Westbrook will most probably wow most of the voters with their numbers. But Leonard gets it done at both ends of the floor, and he is just as good, if not better, than those aforementioned guys at the free-throw line. All told, he is 47 out of 48 from the charity stripe, and that has helped him to a 31.6 ppg average. The problem with the Spurs is that they haven’t gotten a lot of impressive offense from some of the other players on the roster, as they have been inconsistent. They would love to get some better shooting at of Danny Green, for example, but Green, who is very dangerous from long-range, has hit just five of 19 from beyond the arc.

The guy who gave them a real boost in Game 5, which they won 116-103, was Patty Mills, who scored 20 points off the bench, including five triples. It is a standing problem for the Grizzlies that they do not have their defensive wins, Tony Allen, available at the moment. Allen would clearly like to suit up for Game 6, but he just can’t, as is Injury prevents them from doing so. If there is a seventh and deciding game, perhaps that could change.

In the NBA playoff betting odds posted on this game by the folks at BetAnySports, San Antonio is the road favorite:

San Antonio Spurs -5.5

Memphis Grizzlies +5.5

Over 189.5 points -110

Under 189.5 points -110

Certainly the Spurs are the deeper team, as they can bring people like Mills, Pau Gasol (brother of Marc) and Manu Ginobli off the bench, in addition to Dewayne Dedmon, who has had to give way to David Lee, as Gregg Popovich obviously made the attempt to get a little smaller in the lineup. Who knows if that will be the case in Game 6, but Lee came in and put 11 points on the board, so Popovich should have some confidence in using him for considerable minutes.

If Chandler Parsons were able to play, Memphis might have more options on offense, but they are still okay as long as Mike Conley continues to play at the level he has shown. In the five games to date,, he has shot better than 50% and averaged over 24 points, with 37 assists and only 10 turnovers. BetAnySports patrons know that he has that kind of calm demeanor that becomes useful come playoff time. The pace of this series is pretty slow – 85.6 possessions per 48 minutes on average – and that generally promotes a half-court game. So Memphis should be able to hold its own with Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph out there. And remember that in the nine meetings this season, the visiting team has not come up with a straight-up victory even once.
