MLB Playoffs: Los Angeles Dodgers at Arizona Diamondbacks Division Series, Game

This is the Wednesday, October 11th MLB report for the Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks prediction.

The game starts at 9:07 PM EST in Arizona’s Chase Field. The Moneyline has the underdog Diamondbacks priced at +124, while the Dodgers are the favorites at -148. The O/U total is 9.5, and the Runline is 1.5 runs in favor of Los Angeles.

Once Favored Dodgers Now Face Elimination

The LA Dodgers entered the postseason as a favorite to win it all, but after the Arizona Diamondbacks took a 2-0 lead in the NLDS, the Dodgers are floundering and now have the 2nd-worst odds (+2000) of winning the World Series. The D’backs have come to play, scoring 15 total runs, while holding the Dodgers to a measly 2 runs per game, in the first two matchups of the NLDS. Arizona’s stellar performance rocketed them up the favorites list, and at +700, the D’Backs have the 5th-best odds of the 8 remaining teams to win the World Series. 

The Dodgers, who went 13-7 and averaged 5.3 runs per game in their last 20 regular season games, are reeling after their first two postseason outings. LA, who was a powerhouse all season, has 4 runs, 10 hits, and 1 home run in the playoffs. Of the 8 teams that remain, the Dodgers have the worst offensive production, while the Diamondbacks have the best (26 runs, 36 hits, 9 home runs).  

Game 3 is a must-win for the LA Dodgers. The NLDS is a best-of-5 series, and if Arizona wins on Wednesday the series is over. The Dodgers need 3-straight wins to advance, and while the odds to win the series are stacked against them, Los Angeles, at the very least, will win Game 3. Regardless of their recent struggles, the Dodgers are too good to be swept. LA was 8-5 against the Diamondbacks in the regular season, and the Dodgers will rally to take Game 3.
