LA Dodgers Look To Extend Series
The LA Dodgers are in hot water. They dropped back-to-back games against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Games 1 and 2, and LA is now facing elimination. The Dodgers hope to avoid the sweep, but if Arizona wins tonight, the Dodgers are out. For a breakdown of tonight’s Game 3, check out my video from OSB sports.
In a shocking turn of events, it’s the LA Dodgers who are on the ropes against the D’backs. LA ended the regular season 16.0 games up on Arizona, yet in the playoffs the Dodgers have fallen short of expectations. LA has a -11 run differential against the D’backs in the NLDS, and there won’t be a Game 4 if the Dodgers can’t get it together for Game 3. The Diamondbacks are playing inspired baseball, recording 6.5 runs, 9.0 hits, 2.25 home runs, and a .265 batting average in the postseason. The Dodgers are batting below .160, and despite recording the 2nd-most home runs in the regular season (249), LA’s J.D. Martinez is the only player with a postseason home run.
The Dodgers hit a slump at the worst possible time, and the Diamondbacks are taking advantage. Arizona has all the momentum, and even if they lose Game 3, the D’backs will bounce back to seal the deal in Game 4.
