For starters, this team is fighting to keep its playoff hopes alive, as although they are currently the number three seed in the Wild Card picture, they still only have a 2.5 game lead against the Milwaukee Brewers for the divisional lead. They were able to take over the first place position in their division from Milwaukee last week after they won eight games in a row. But this is a division that has flip-flopped between Saint Louis and Milwaukee and having the lead for the majority of the season. The other major storyline coming out of Saint Louis is Albert Pujols’s quest to become the 4th Player in MLB History 700 home runs in their career. He currently sits at 698 and quite possibly can get the marks this year. Their opposition in this game, the Colorado Rockies, have struggled throughout the year to a 51-66 record, which has them in last place in their division, and they’re coming off two straight losses at the hands of the Diamondbacks.
