The Seattle Mariners entered the season as a fringe playoff team that some people had making the wildcard and others had crashing and burning. But now with less than a month plus they have made it abundantly clear that this is a playoff team and then they can really do some damage in the postseason. They have an amazing young core which has them in the last wild-card spot with a huge 98% of making the postseason. The one thing that’s a little concerning about them is the fact that they enter tonight on a three game losing streak handed to them by the poor Los Angeles Ángeles. Matchup in tonight’s game is one to watch as it will be between Luis Castillo and JP Sears. These pitchers have a combined record of 5-2, are both coming off wins, and both have ERAs south of 2.50. Castillo is more of a strikeout pitcher as he has 60 Ks over 49.1 innings pitched, compared to Sears who has only 11 Ks over 21.1 innings. Still, an out is an in baseball, and these pitchers can both get it done.
