The LSU Tigers are currently 3-1 on the season and head into this game after a dominant win at home against the New Mexico Lobos. In the game against the Lobos, they won by a final score of 38-0. Quarterbacks Jayden Daniels and Garrett Nussmeier took the field for the Tigers. Daniels started the game for the Tigers and played the majority of the game until he exited in the third quarter due to a lower back injury. During his time on the field, he threw for 279 yards and rushed for 37. Nussmeier came into the game and helped the team drive the ball down the field as he threw for 135 yards and threw one touchdown. Daniels is likely to be ready to suit up for LSU and start against Auburn but if he is a setback, Nussmeier is a solid backup. Running back Noah Cain had a solid performance against the Lobos. He rushed for 94 yards on 11 attempts and scored 2 rushing touchdowns. LSU had a great offensive outing, having recorded 633 yards of total offense. What’s even more impressive is that the LSU defense held New Mexico to only 88 yards of total offense in the game. Huge opportunity for LSU in this game to end their current losing streak to Auburn.

The Auburn Tigers are also currently 3-1 on the and head into this game after a close home win against the Missouri Tigers where they won by a final score of 17-14. This game was not the best statistically for Auburn as they didn’t even have over 220 total yards of offense. Quarterback Robby Ashford led the team in passing yards with 127 yards while rushing for 46 yards and a touchdown. Running back Tank Bigsby joined Ashford for scoring a rushing touchdown. In the game, Bigsby rushed for 44 yards on 19 attempts. Auburn dodged a huge bullet in overtime.  Missouri was moving the ball downfield and had all the momentum. All of a sudden, Missouri’s running back, Nathaniel Peat, had the ball and ran all the way to the one-yard line where he tried to extend the ball over the goal-line to score a touchdown but fumbled while doing so. Auburn recovered the fumble and won.

I think LSU heads into this game as the better team. They have a much better offense and defense than Auburn. They might struggle however because this game will be played on the road and Auburn currently does have a two-game winning streak against them. Auburn got lucky last week and is now facing a solid team in LSU.

For our expert pick, take the LSU Tigers -8.0.
