Matchup: Tennessee Volunteers vs. Purdue Boilermakers

On Easter Sunday we have a can’t miss Elite Eight matchup between the Tennessee Volunteers and the Purdue Boilermakers. The winner will go on to compete in the Final Four and the loser will go home. Tennessee hasn’t never reached the Final Four in men’s basketball, and the Vols are making just their 2nd all-time appearance in the Elite Eight. Purdue hasn’t seen the Elite Eight since 2019 and the Boilers haven’t been to the Final Four since 1980, as Purdue’s prestigious basketball program is still in search of the schools first National Championship. Tennessee is looking to spoil the Boilermakers party, but as the lower seed the Vols are the underdog, and face a seemingly unbeatable No. 1 seed in Purdue.

The Boilers shot at a national title have never been better, but Tennessee’s aggressive style could have Purdue on the ropes. The spread is +/-3.0 points in favor of Purdue, but this deep in the tournament anything could happen. Below you’ll find our picks for Tennessee vs. Purdue, including stats, scores, and betting advice. We’ll help you navigate the odds and provide helpful betting tips for Sunday’s Elite Eight matchup between the Tennessee Volunteers and the Purdue Boilermakers.

Tennessee vs. Purdue Game Predictions

The Tennessee Volunteers are a great team, winning all three of their March Madness matchups convincingly, but the Vols are about to run into a wall named Zach Edey, Purdue’s 7’ 4” 300 lbs Center who’s leading the tournament in both rebounds (16.3) and scoring (26.7). Aside from the reigning champion UConn Huskies, no other team has dominated the tournament like the Boilermakers. Averaging 88.0 points per game and a +26.3 margin of victory, the Boilers are cooking the competition. Purdue has yet to allow an opponent to reach 70 points, averaging 61.7 points against in the tournament thanks to their suffocating defense and rebounding dominance. Tennessee will put up a good fight, but this seems to be Purdue’s year, so I’m taking the Boilers over the Vols in the Elite Eight.
