Matchup: NC State Wolfpack vs. Purdue Boilermakers
The men’s Final Four kicks off this Saturday with a matchup between the NC State Wolfpack and the Purdue Boilermakers. NC State’s improbable journey has landed them in the Final Four, making the Wolfpack the 5th team in March Madness history to reach the Final Four as an 11-seed. NC State could make history as the lowest seed to play in a championship game, if they beat Purdue on Saturday, but 11-seeds are 0-5 in the Final Four. The Wolfpack are the underdogs once again, as Purdue is expected to make their 2nd championship appearance in school history, and the first since 1969, but this is March Madness, and anything could happen. NC State upset a 6-seed, a 2-seed, and a 4-seed to get here, and while their run has been a thrill to watch, the 1-seed Boilers might be too much for the Wolfpack to handle.

NC State vs. Purdue Game Predictions
The Wolfpacks 2024 run in March Madness will be remembered, but NC State is not going to beat Purdue in the Final Four. I’m going with the Boilermakers to win and move on to the championship game. Purdue and UConn have been the top teams of the tournament, and I can’t see the Boilers losing to NC State. Purdue just needs to stay calm and continue to play their brand of basketball, which is simple: get the ball to Zach Edey. Edey is a 7 foot 4 matchup nightmare, and his 30.0 points and 16.25 rebounds per game during March Madness has carried the Boilermakers through the tournament.
NC State’s DJ Burns Jr., who recorded 29 points and 7 rebounds in the upset over Duke, is a big dude (6’ 9”, 275 lbs) but even a guy like Burns will have his hands full against the mighty Zach Edey. Purdue out matches NC State in nearly every category, and so far no one has had an answer for Purdue’s one-two punch between Zach Edey and Braden Smith. The Boilers have been a top program for years, and it seems they’ve put their torrid tournament history behind them. The Wolfpack won’t get blown out in the Final Four, but NC State won’t stop the Boilermakers from reaching the championship.
In summary, here are my picks for NC State vs. Purdue in the Final Four:
- Moneyline Pick: Purdue Boilermakers (-400)
If you take Purdue’s Moneyline (-400): You risk $400 to win $100, for a total payout of $500, if Purdue wins straight up.
- ATS Pick: NC State Wolfpack (+8.5)
If you take NC State to Cover the +8.5 Spread (-110): You risk $110 to win $100, for a total payout of $210, if NC State wins the game, or loses by less than 9 points.
- O/U Pick: Over (146.5)
If you take the Over on 146.5 total points (-110): You risk $110 to win $100, for a total payout of $210, if NC State and Purdue combine for more than 146.5 points.
