Disappointing Denmark
In International play overall, Denmark has been quite a successful team as of late. Including their two blunders in the Euros, the team is 3-3 with 3 clean sheets in those victories, and today could be a bounce-back performance for the team. Christian Eriksen suffered a heart attack on the field in the team’s last game, and that scary incident has surely shaken this team. What the hope is, is that this team could shake off what’s happened and play this game for Eriksen as they know he’d want the team to succeed without him.
Team captain Simon Kjaer needs to have a big game for this club and get his offense going, as the team has put up a measly one goal so far. If Kjaer and striker, Kasper Schmeichel, can get involved early and often, this game has blowout potential written all over it. It’s hard to be quite sure that Russia hasn’t just been lucky with the way their Group B has played so far. Are The Russians Real?
Russia is 2nd place in the Group B competition thus far, but are they good enough to beat a hungry Denmark team? It sounds hypocritical, but if you are only beating Finland by a goal, that is an issue. Denmark lost by a goal to Finland, but their best player literally almost died on the field, and the team visibly was performing much worse after that moment. Denmark took a fight to Belgium in their 2-1 loss, having a superbly good first half, but Russia lost 3-0 to Belgium, and it could’ve been worse.
Russia’s defenders just had no answers for Kevin De Bruyne and that offense, and while Denmark is down their offensive star in this matchup, they have a ready group of guys right behind him who is more than capable of getting the job done.
