PREVIEW AND PREDICTION FOR MONDAY, APRIL 6, 2015 – ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE: CRYSTAL PALACE VS MANCHESTER CITY

Manuel Pellegrini and his Manchester City team travel to Selhurst Park on Monday night to face a spirited Crystal Palace side, fully aware of the fact that only a victory would keep the Citizens in the title discussion and avoid a trophy-less and disappointing 2014-2015 season.

Crystal Palace have lost their last 7 straight games against Manchester City in all competitions.

Following an impressive revival under new manager Alan Pardew, that saw the team won six and draw one of their last eleven games, including three of their last four in the Premier League, the Eagles play hosts to Manchester City on Monday night. Eleven points clear of the relegation zone, Crystal Palace are currently 11th in the league table and can face Manchester City without any sort of pressure, and knowing that they can play a part in derailing the Citizens’ title aspirations. Alan Pardew has completely changed the Eagles’ fortunes since being appointed manager and has his squad playing with more energy and confidence. Against the defending champions this Monday night will certainly be a good example of that.

An undisputed 3-0 victory combined with a solid performance against West Brom at home two weeks ago, helped to ease some of the pressure on Manuel Pellegrini (at least, for a while), following back-to back losses on the road against Barcelona, a result that knocked the Citizens out of the Champions League, and Burnley, which moved Manchester City further away from league leaders Chelsea and, at the same time, gave Arsenal and Manchester United hopes of reaching 2nd place. Chelsea are already 6 points ahead of the defending champions with a game in hand while the Gunners and the Red Devils are just 1 point and 2 points respectively behind Manchester City in the table. With pressure coming from everywhere, this game is undoubtedly a must win for Pellegrini and his team.

A very poor run of form with only 4 wins in their last 10 Premier League games, and only one win in their last 5 on the road, has put Manchester City in a very difficult position. History and statistics show us that Selhurst Park isn’t the worst of places for the Citizens to play in, as they have come out on top in their last 3 games there, with a combined result of 6-1, but Manchester City will have to work hard come Monday night to get the three points. At home, in the Premier League, Crystal Palace have won only two of their last eight games and have allowed goals in their last 11 straight games, and considering that City are the second team in the league with most goals scored away from home (31) only behind Chelsea (33), in theory, this looks like a good place and game to keep their ambitions alive. Given the individual talent, class and experience that they possess, the Citizens should be able to overcome a tough opponent and secure a much-needed win. Our Prediction: Manchester City to Win BetOnline Odds: -152
