Capitals Recover
The Washington Capitals face the New York Islanders for the second time this week to conclude the season series. The first of the meeting ended in a surprising 4-1 victory for the Islanders in which they had eight players total a point including Anders Lee who has 27 goals on the year. The win was surprising because not only were the Islanders without the leading point getter Brock Nelson, but also the Capitals entered with a 44-23-12 record and had clinched their spot in the Playoffs, while the Islanders had a 35-34-10 record and have long been eliminated from playoff contention.
Despite their loss to Islanders, this game will be another important one for the Capitals, As there are still looking to leap past the Pittsburgh Penguins in their playoff picture in the final two games of the season. The Capitals entered the last game as -180 favorites, but because of the beat down they received, the line for this game has been lowered to -135. This is the perfect opportunity to capitalize on a Washington Capitals team who ranks 10th in the NHL in goals scored per game at 3.34 and 13th in goals allowed per game at 2.93. Expect an easy game for goalie Vitek Vanecek of the Capitols, as their defense will likely stifle the Islanders weaker offense.
