The Oilers have one last chance.
The Colorado Avalanche are looking as dominant as ever.While most people had them as favorites in this series and they were expected to advance to the Stanley Cup Championship berth, not many people had them potentially sweeping the Edmonton Oilers. Game through this series was no doubt the closest game as the Oilers actually entered the third period tied. But thanks to two goals from the Avalanche, right wing man Valeri Nichushkin, and the go ahead goal in the third period by JT Compher, we now sit with the Avalanche up 3-0 on the cusp of making the finals.
Surprisingly, however, the Avalanche are the smallest favorites, that they’ve been in any game this series. Perhaps because some believe that the orders will not go down without a fight and are unwilling to be swept. Whatever the reason, we agree, so expect some goals to be scored.
