Seattle Kraken at Dallas Stars: Second Round Prediction & Betting Tips For Game 2

The Stanley Cup Playoffs continue on Thursday, May 4th when the Seattle Kraken take on the Dallas Stars in Game 2 of their Second Round series (9:30 PM EST, TNT). The Kraken stole Game 1 in overtime, beating the Stars 5-4 and taking away home-court advantage. The Stars are favored to win the series, but the Kraken have continually defied the odds this postseason. Dallas is -1.5 goal favorites, with a moneyline priced at -216. The Kraken are +1.5 goal underdogs for the 9th game in a row this postseason, but when it comes to the Kraken, never tell them the odds. 

The Seattle Kraken (+1.5; ML +175)

Seattle has had an outstanding debut in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The team joined the NHL just last year, and in their second-season, they not only qualified for the postseason, but they knocked out the reigning champions in the First Round! The Kraken took down the Colorado Avalanche in 7 games, and then carried that momentum into the Second Round with an upset against Dallas in Game 1. Seattle is averaging 2.88 goals per game and allowing 2.88 goals per game, yet here they are in the Second Round with a 52% chance to see the Conference Finals. Yanni Gourde leads the Kraken with 7 points (2 goals, 5 assists) but 15 different players have scored at least 1 goal, and 19 different players have at least 1 points. 

The Dallas Stars (-1.5; ML -216)

The Dallas Stars made it past the First Round for the first time since 2020, and now face a highly inexperienced Seattle Kraken team. The Stars beat the Minnesota Wild 4-2 in the First Round, winning three-straight to secure the series and advance into the next round. But Dallas’ winning streak was snapped in Game 1 when they fell to Seattle 5-4 in OT at home. Dallas’ Center Joe Pavelski scored an incredible 4 goals against Seattle, but the real prize was lost. The Stars now have a 48% chance to reach the Conference Finals, but they have yet to lose two games in a row in the playoffs, and they will like their chances against the Kraken on Thursday.

Kraken vs. Stars: Game 2 Prediction

Take the Dallas Stars to win Game 2. Seattle started off with a win in their last series as well, but quickly regressed, and lost the next two games. The Kraken are grossly underrated, and are much more formidable than many gave them credit for, but Dallas is objectively the better team and they won’t go down easy. It will be another close game, but Dallas has a better defense, and after getting a taste of what the Kraken are about in Game 1, the Stars can plan a more comprehensive defensive strategy for Game 2. Seattle gets off more shots, but the Stars are more accurate. The Kraken’s inexperience hasn’t hindered them yet, but their bright-eyed optimism can only get them so far, and against a disciplined defense like Dallas, Seattle will falter.
