Game one in this series went exactly how we told you it would go, with the under hitting with ease. The result of the first game was a low scoring bout that went to overtime, in which the Carolina Hurricanes barely squeaked out a win., thanks to an OT goal by Ian Cole. Both goalies in this game, who are two of the best in the NHL, had good games with Antti Raanta of the hurricane getting this slight edge over Igor Shesterton of the Rangers. Raanta had 27 saves in the game and a .964 save percentage.
The Carolina Hurricanes were the more aggressive team in the third period when it mattered most, having six more shots on goal than the Rangers. Expect that to pay dividends in game two, as the Hurricanes will run away with this game, and make the Rangers aware that they need home ice.
