Panthers Bounce Back
Game one of this lightning versus Panthers series was a tough pill to swallow. If you’re a Panthers fan. Are the Lightning still just better than the Panthers? Are they a hump that the Panthers can’t overcome? The Panthers started the game jumping out to a 10 lead in the first period behind a beautiful goal by Anthony Duclair, but then the lightning answered shortly in the second period, with a power play snap shot goal scored by Corey Perry. We entered the third period all tied up before Tampa’s Pierre-Edouard Bellemare netted one and sucked the energy from the fans gathered at BB&T Center. But then Cats fans had a glimmer of hope once again, as they believed that Anthony Duclair had scored the game tying goal late in the third period, only to realize that it hit the netting and the goal was disallowed. From that point on, the game got out of hand and the Lightning won 4-1.
After the game, the Panthers felt that they really had done a good job in the game and somehow just let it slip away, feeling that they even outplayed the lightning in large stretches of the games. And while that may be true, they’re going to have to prove it by getting a win in game two, or else they will be heading back to Tampa with an 0-2 hole and losing home ice. The betting public still has confidence in this Florida Panthers team that dominated throughout the season, and despite the ugly loss they are still favored in this one and expect them to show why. Two players to watch in this one who need to step up for the Cats will be Jonathan Huberdeu, and Alexander Barkov.
