Seattle Kraken at Minnesota Wild

The Seattle Kraken roll into Saint Paul to take on the Minnesota Wild on Monday, March 27th (ESPN+/Hulu). Seattle and Minnesota played twice back in November of 2022, and the series is tied 1-1. The Kraken won the first matchup 4-0 in Minnesota, and the Wild won the second 1-0 in Seattle. Now, they gear up for the third and final matchup of the regular season which will determine who takes the series. Both Seattle and Minnesota are highly likely to make the playoffs but continue to fight for the best possible spot in the standings. The Wild are favored -140 for Monday’s contest, while the Kraken are priced at +120. 

Seattle Kraken Breakdown (+120)

The Kraken are 40-24-8 with 88 points through 72 games. With 10 games left before the postseason begins, Seattle is in prime position to make the playoffs, but their seeding has yet to be determined. The Kraken are 4th in the Pacific Division and 7th in the Western Conference, 10 points out of 1st. Seattle went 5-3-2 (12 pts) in their last 10, but won 3 of their last 5, and are coming off an emphatic 7-2 victory over the Predators on Saturday. Seattle are considered the underdogs in Sunday’s matchup with Minnesota, but the Kraken won’t mind as they are 15-7-2 (62.5%) as underdogs on the road.

The Minnesota Wild have a 42-22-9 record with 93 points through 73 games. They are at the top of the Central Division, but lead by just 1 point. The Wild went 6-1-3 (15 pts) in their last 10 games and are coming off a 3-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday. As division leaders, Minnesota are guaranteed a spot in the playoffs, but with Dallas and Colorado hot on their heels, the Wild can’t afford to take anything for granted, and their fate has yet to be solidified. Minnesota is expected to beat their Western Conference rivals on Monday, and they get to play at home where the Wild win 62.2% of the time.

Kraken vs. Wild Prediction

Pick the Seattle Kraken to win the game. The Kraken travel well, winning about 65% of their road games. The Wild may be able to stop Seattle because of their stellar defense, but if Kirill Kaprizov misses the game, Minnesota won’t have the offensive firepower needed to match Seattle’s. Minnesota and Seattle average about the same number of shots per game, but surprisingly, the Kraken prevent fewer shots than the Wild. In their last matchup, Seattle held the Nashville Predators to just 16 shots, and could replicate that success on Monday against the Wild who average fewer than 3 goals per game.
