What happened? Through the first period in game five of this series, it looked like the reigning champion Lightning were going to handle this game as they dominated to the tune of a 2-0 first 20 minutes. The second period started off to a different tune for the Lightning as they allowed a power play goal to John Tavares. But then, just four minutes into the third period, the score was now 3-2 Toronto with the Maple Leafs getting goals from William Nylander and Morgan Riley.
The Tampa Bay Lightning, being the respective two time defending NHL hockey Stanley Cup Champions, entered the season as heavy favorites at +800 additionally entered the playoffs as favorites as well. The Lightning have had a stranglehold on the entire NHL for the last couple seasons.But now their odds have gone from the favorites at +750 to longshots at +2,100. The Maple Leafs truly have been impressive and look to end their playoff winning drought with a win tonight, but I don’t see the Lightning going down in 6 at home in Amalie Arena. Expect the Tampa Bay Lightning to come out with some passion and win this game to force game 7.
