Jets Look To Dethrone The Kings | Jets vs Kings | OSB
Winnipeg Jets at Los Angeles Kings
By Sam Batz
The Los Angeles Kings host the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday, March 25th (4:00 PM EST, NHLPP/ESPN+). The Kings are 20-11-0-9 against the Jets all-time, but this season the series is tied 1-1. The Kings average 5.0 goals per game against the Jets, and the Jets average 5.5 goals per game against the Kings. Needless to say, Saturday’s matchup is bound to be a close game. The Jets defeated the Kings in their own home during the first matchup, but the Kings retaliated, defeating Winnipeg at home in the second. Now they return to Los Angeles for the third and final matchup of the series, where the Kings are favored at (-156) and the Jets are underdogs at (+126).
Winnipeg Jets Desperately Need Points
The Winnipeg Jets are 41-29-3 with 85 points but continue to fight for their spot in the postseason. According to FiveThirtyEight, the Jets have a 76% chance to see the postseason but need to hold off the Sabres and Avalanche in order to get that done. Winnipeg is 5-4-1 in their last 10 games but are coming off of back-to-back wins thanks to their defense who allowed just 3 goals in both games combined. The Jets are decent on the road, winning just over half of their away games, but on Saturday they face an LA Kings squad that know how to defend their home, and although Winnipeg beat LA at home earlier this season, doing it again will be a daunting task.
Los Angeles Kings Fighting For Top-Seed
The Kings are currently 41-20-10 with 92 points through 71 games. LA is sitting pretty as the 2 seed in the Pacific Division, and if they can remain in that position, the Kings will coast to the playoffs. They are highly likely to make the postseason, but with the Oilers just 2 points behind them in the divisional standings, the Kings can’t afford to take their foot off the gas. The Pacific Division’s top-four teams are separated by 10-points, with the Kraken at the bottom (86 pts), the Golden Knights at the top (96 pts), and the Los Angeles Kings (92 pts) right in the middle. The Kings won 8 of their last 10 games, but so did the Golden Knight and the Oilers, so LA must continue to fight in order to secure their postseason future.

Jets vs. Kings Game Changers
Winnipeg Jets
- The Jets defense is leading the way for Winnipeg, allowing 11 total goals in their last 5 games (2.2 goals against per game)
- Mark Scheifele, Kyle Connor, and Pierre-Luc Dubois have combined for 90 goals on the season but in their last 5 games the Jets averaged just 1.6 goals per game.
- Winnipeg ranks 20th in shots per game (30.4) and 11th in shots against per game (30.5), resulting in the 14th best goal differential (+15), tied with the Los Angeles Kings
Los Angeles Kings
- The Kings win 63.9% of the time at home in Crypto.com Arena, and in their last home game, doused the Calgary Flames 8-2
- Los Angeles ranks within the top-ten for total goals scored (241) and have 5 players (Adrian Kempe, Anze Kopitar, Gabriel Vilardi, Kevin Fiala, and Viktor Arvidsson) with 20 or more goals on the season.
- The Kings rank 4th in shots against per game (27.9), but have allowed 226 goals, which is 22 more goals against than the Winnipeg Jets
Jets vs. Kings Prediction
Take the underdog Jets moneyline (+126) to win the game. In a defense (Winnipeg) versus offense (Los Angeles) showdown, I am putting my money on defense. The Jets allow less than 3 goals per game, and Winnipeg’s Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck is playing out of his mind, recording 20.0 saves per game in his last 5 with a 90.9% save percentage. The Jets are in a less desirable position if you look at the postseason picture, but that will give them the extra fire needed to take down the Kings. Los Angeles is a good team, and this will certainly be a great matchup, but in the end I like the Jets in this one.
Prediction: WInnipeg Jets Moneyline (+126) and the Over (6); Final Score: 4-3
