Edmonton Oilers Disappoint With Slow Start
The Edmonton Oilers are 4-9-1 (9 pts), and even though they’ve won back-to-back games, the Oilers have been a major letdown. The Oilers went 3-6-1 in their last 10 games, and despite being the top-scorers last season, they’ve scored just 39 goals so far, the 5th-fewest in the West.
Edmonton hosts the Seattle Kraken tomorrow. Seattle is 5-8-3 (13 pts) and aren’t doing much better than the Oilers. The Kraken have 40 goals for and 58 goals against and are coming off back-to-back losses. In fact, it was the Oilers who handed Seattle one of those losses when the two sides played for the first time on Saturday. Edmonton beat the Kraken 4-1 in Seattle, giving them a much needed confidence boost for this one.
I’m going with the Oilers. In their last 2 games Edmonton scored 8 total goals. Seattle scored just 2 goals in their last 2. The Oilers are struggling, but the potential to breakout is there. Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid have only 9 combined goals, far below last year’s total at this point, but they are superstar Center’s, and Seattle’s middling defense will struggle to keep them away from the goal.
