Vegas Golden Knights at Minnesota Wild

Vegas Golden Knights at Minnesota Wild

The Western Conference’s division leaders are scheduled for a head-to-head spectacle on Monday, April 3rd when the Vegas Golden Knights ride into Saint Paul to take on the Minnesota Wild (8:00 PM EST, NHL NET). The Wild are a -1.5 goal Favorite with the Moneyline priced at -136. Vegas is the Underdog but the Knights are favored to cover the +1.5 points spread and their Moneyline is priced at +115. The Golden Knights are 2-0-0 against the Wild, scoring 9 total goals, while allowing just 2 against. Vegas and Minnesota just played on Saturday in Las Vegas, where the Knights won 4-1, and now both head to Minnesota for the second of their back-to-back matchup.

Vegas Golden Knights Breakdown

The Golden Knights are leading the Pacific Division with a 47-22-7 record and 101 points. Vegas leads the division by just 2 points, as the Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings continue to keep pace with the Knights. Vegas will make the playoffs, but where they end up in the standings will remain a mystery for another 6 games. The Knights went 7-2-1 (15 pts) in the last 10 games and are coming off a victory, which snapped a 2 game losing streak, over their Monday night competition. The Golden Knights missed the playoffs for the first time in franchise history last season, but clinched their spot this year, and will be looking to get back to the finals for the first time since 2018.

Minnesota Wild Breakdown

The Minnesota Wild lead the Central Division, yet they have not officially clinched the playoffs. Minnesota is 44-23-9 with 97 points, and while they will almost certainly see the postseason, the Wild could easily fall in the standings during the few remaining games. Minnesota went 6-2-2 (14 pts) in the last 10 games, which is respectable, but will need to continue to win in order to keep the top seed in the division. The Wild have failed to beat the Golden Knights in two previous attempts, and on Monday, will face Vegas for the final time in an attempt to avoid being swept. Minnesota is a great team, and on Monday they get a chance to prove their worth against the best in the West.

Golden Knights vs. Wild Prediction

Take the Vegas Golden Knights to win the game (Moneyline). The Knights are rolling as the top team in the West and will face any challenger to their supremacy on the field of battle. Vegas can get the job done on both ends of the ice whether they are on the road or at home. The Wild protect their home well but I don’t think they will weather the storm of another Golden Knights siege. Vegas wins 61.1% of the time as Underdogs on the road, while the Wild 64.7% of the time as Favorites at home.

The Golden Knights are led by Center Jack Eichel, who has recorded 62 points (27 goals, 35 assists) for Vegas. Along with Eichel, Center Jonathan Marchessault and Right Wing Reilly Smith are the only other players with 20+ goals, all three have combined for 77 Golden Knights scores. The Wild are led by Left Wing Kirill Kaprizov, who has 74 points (39 goals, 35 assists), but who is also listed as Out, and has not returned to practice since suffering a lower body injury over a week ago. Left Wing Matt Boldy has led Minnesota with Kaprizov sidelined, but the Wild’s offense will struggle to keep up with a fast-paced Vegas attack who love to score goals.

Prediction: Vegas Golden Knights Moneyline (+115)
